With the rapid growth of Chinese social media data, many language-driven analytical tasks, such as sentiment analysis and malicious account detection, are increasingly formulated as computationally expensive optimization problems, particularly in the context of hyperparameter tuning for deep learning models. Due to the intrinsic characteristics of Chinese text, including implicit word boundaries, strong context dependency, and high linguistic variability, the resulting feature representations are often high-dimensional, sparse, and heterogeneously distributed. From an optimization perspective, these properties induce highly irregular, non-smooth, and multimodal objective landscapes, posing significant challenges to conventional surrogate-assisted data-driven evolutionary algorithms (DDEAs). To address this problem, this paper proposes a Normal Selection-based data-driven evolutionary algorithm (NSEA) for improving surrogate-assisted optimization under complex conditions. Specifically, a Normal distribution-based selection strategy (NSS) is developed to enable probabilistic selection of surrogate models, balancing exploitation of high-performing models and exploration of alternative candidates, thereby alleviating premature convergence in multimodal search spaces. In addition, an exponential weighting ensemble (EWE) method is introduced to aggregate surrogate models based on their relative ranking performance, which enhances the stability and generalization capability of fitness approximation across different regions of the search space. Extensive experiments on benchmark functions demonstrate that the proposed NSEA consistently outperforms several state-of-the-art DDEAs in terms of optimization accuracy and robustness. Furthermore, a real-world application of cheating official account (COA) detection on Chinese social media is conducted, in which the hyperparameter optimization of a heterogeneous graph transformer (HGT) model is formulated as an EOP. The results further prove the effectiveness and practical applicability of the NSEA in complex data-driven scenarios. Overall, this study provides an effective optimization framework for handling EOPs with complex and multimodal characteristics and offers a feasible computational approach for tasks associated with large-scale Chinese textual data. Background/Objectives: Labor pain is a multidimensional experience associated with physiological, cultural, psychological, and contextual factors. This study aimed to examine the association of personality-related characteristics, cultural beliefs, obstetric characteristics, and proxy indicators of post-disaster context with labor pain perception among women giving birth in Hatay after the 2023 Türkiye earthquakes. Methods: This prospective observational study was conducted with 314 women admitted to Hatay Training and Research Hospital between February and June 2025. Participants were between 38 and 42 gestational weeks, had a singleton healthy fetus, were admitted in active labor, and were expected to give birth vaginally. Data were collected using a researcher-developed questionnaire, the Ten-Item Personality Inventory, and the Visual Analog Scale. Labor pain was assessed at 6 cm, 8 cm, and full cervical dilatation (10 cm). Results: VAS scores increased significantly across cervical dilatation points, from 5.04 ± 0.81 at 6 cm to 7.01 ± 0.82 at 8 cm and 8.06 ± 0.93 at full cervical dilatation (10 cm). Repeated-measures ANOVA showed a significant within-person increase in pain intensity across the three assessment points, F(2, 626) = 996.444, p < 0.001, partial η2 = 0.761. Age was not significantly correlated with VAS pain score at full cervical dilatation. In exploratory unadjusted comparisons, VAS scores at full cervical dilatation differed according to education level, official marriage status, previous birth history and mode, attendance at antenatal education, and praying to relieve labor pain. In the multivariable regression model, higher Extraversion and higher education level were associated with lower VAS scores, whereas attendance at antenatal education, greater importance given to traditional rules, previous assisted vaginal/cesarean birth, and current place of residence were independently associated with VAS scores. Conscientiousness was not significantly associated with VAS scores in the adjusted model. Earthquake experience was not significantly associated with VAS scores. Conclusions: Labor pain perception was associated with selected sociodemographic, obstetric, and cultural characteristics. The findings support the importance of individualized, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed midwifery care in disaster-affected regions. Personality-related findings should be interpreted cautiously because the corrected reliability analysis showed low internal consistency for Agreeableness, Emotional Stability, and Openness to Experience, although Extraversion showed high internal consistency and Conscientiousness showed relatively better but still limited internal consistency. Disaster-related findings should also be interpreted cautiously because post-disaster context was assessed using only limited proxy indicators; current place of residence was independently associated with VAS scores in the adjusted model, whereas earthquake experience was not. Because of the observational design, causal interpretations cannot be made. Full article

Saudi Arabia currently lacks a nationally representative, multi-day National Household Travel Survey comparable to the US, UK, or New Zealand programmes; existing official data products focus on aggregate road-transport indicators or general household statistics rather than detailed day-to-day travel diaries. This study develops a benchmark-driven framework for NHTS–KSA by comparing Saudi demographic, geographic, infrastructure, climate, and mobility indicators with those of the United States, United Kingdom, and New Zealand, and by systematically assessing 15 survey-design indicators across their national household travel surveys. Context benchmarking identifies the United States as the closest for highway-oriented interurban structure and motorisation level, New Zealand for geography and demographic structure (in particular, near-identical physiological density on limited arable land), and the United Kingdom as the most aspirationally aligned benchmark for the multimodal mobility patterns Saudi Arabia aims to develop under Vision 2030. Design benchmarking shows that the three surveys are closely matched in aggregate similarity but lead on distinct elements: New Zealand on diary length and integrated passive tracking, the US on digital tools and emerging-behaviour modules, and the UK on interviewer-led recruitment and multimodal analysis, a pattern that proves robust to plausible variation in individual scores. The resulting NHTS–KSA blueprint specifies a statistically justified, stratified multistage annual household sample, a two-day diary with rolling 12-month fieldwork, interviewer-assisted recruitment, a digital-first diary with optional GPS tracking, and modules on long-distance travel, telework, e-commerce, gendered mobility, accessibility, safety, and environmental attitudes. While preserving international comparability, the framework provides the data foundation required to steer public-transport investment, demand-management measures, and land-use policies in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives for sustainable, inclusive, and smart mobility. Background/Objectives: South Korea has experienced a rapid transition from widespread food insecurity and undernutrition to a comprehensive and institutionalized nutrition policy system. This study aimed to examine the historical evolution of Korean nutrition policy and nutrition education from the 1960s to the present and to explore its implications for global nutrition governance and nutrition-related Official Development Assistance (ODA). Methods: A narrative review was conducted using historical documents, government reports, nutrition policies, national health plans, legislation, and previous academic studies related to Korean nutrition policy and nutrition education. Results: Korean nutrition policy evolved through several developmental phases, including an aid-dependent relief period, a state-led food security and school feeding expansion phase, a preventive health and nutrition education phase, and a stage of legal and institutional consolidation. More recently, policies have shifted toward evidence-based, equity-oriented, and life-course approaches. Korea has also expanded its nutrition policy experience through ODA initiatives by supporting institutional development, workforce training, community-based nutrition education, and adaptable nutrition management systems in developing countries. Conclusions: Korea’s experience demonstrates how long-term governmental commitment, legislation, surveillance systems, and nutrition education can contribute to national nutrition improvement during rapid socioeconomic transition. These findings may provide useful insights for countries facing the double burden of malnutrition and seeking sustainable and adaptive nutrition policy systems. Full article

This study developed a building information modeling (BIM)-based rule checking and safety design guide system that can automatically provide construction and safety rules to designers so they can prevent construction accidents. The study begins with an in-depth analysis of national construction accident data in the Republic of Korea, including statistics on accident types, causes, and frequency obtained from official sources such as the Ministry of Employment and Labor and related governmental reports. Based on this analysis, priority accident types, particularly fall-related accidents, were identified and used to define the scope of safety rule development. The first function of the system is to generate safety rules and automatically display the safety design guide in the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) model. For this function, this study developed a sub-Coordination View of Model View Definition (MVD) based on the IFC instance, which extracts the objects’ shape- and attribute-related information from the target objects of the IFC model and displays the relationships between those objects in a diagram. The MVD viewer’s convenience and speed can reduce development costs. It can provide specific safety design guides, such as automatically modeling virtual fences in areas prone to fall accidents. The second function is to use large language models to display objects that must be considered in safety design without generating rules. The system function is an assistive language–data bridge. Since it does not create safety rules, it can further reduce time and effort for system development and prevent various construction accidents because there is no need to create rules. Full article

This study analyzes the impact of socio-demographic factors on citizens’ perceptions of the functioning of local-level inclusion mechanisms, focusing on four dimensions: information, participation, transparency, and effectiveness. A mixed-methods approach is employed, combining: (1) a large-scale survey with 885 residents in three municipalities (Patos, Elbasan, and Mat) and (2) in-depth interviews with mayors, municipal councilors, and social service managers. The quantitative analysis was conducted through binary logistic regression models in SPSS version 27, as well as ordered logistic regression, examining the impact of socio-demographic factors such as age, education level, gender, employment status, and area of residence on the four dimensions of the study and the Inclusion Index. The qualitative component analyzes how local officials address citizen inclusion in key social policy areas such as employment, education, housing, social assistance, and social services. The results show that residence is the strongest predictor, with citizens in urban areas reporting higher levels of information, transparency, and effectiveness of participatory processes. Employment status is also associated with more positive perceptions, while gender and educational level show limited and inconsistent effects. Qualitative findings suggest that these differences are mediated by structural and institutional factors, such as infrastructure, administrative capacity and access to information. The study contributes to the literature on democratic innovation and participatory governance by showing that the impact of demographic factors on civic engagement is mediated by institutional and territorial conditions, particularly in developing countries. This study revisits the debate surrounding the impact of Official Development Assistance (ODA), also known as foreign aid, on two macro-indicators: economic growth and child mortality. Unlike previous studies, which assessed the interaction of aid with composite indicators of recipient countries, this study examines the impacts of individual recipient factors, such as corruption, democracy, income, wars and exports. To overcome the issue of an inverse causal relationship potentially existing between the amount of aid received and macro-performance, a model of donor aid allocation is specified within an instrumental variables framework. The results show that ODA is more likely to be positively associated with economic growth in countries with lower levels of corruption. This positive association is evident when the level of corruption is at least one standard deviation lower than the recipient’s average. The interaction of ODA with recipients’ levels of democracy, income, wars or exports does not show a significant association with growth. The association between ODA and child mortality appears to be generally more significant, with a positive sign, than that obtained for economic growth, although the magnitude is relatively modest. Collective endorsement of shared values across diverse social groups is essential for the development and sustainability of democratic societies, yet capturing the perspectives of marginalised populations remains a persistent challenge, particularly when examined through ethical, legal, and social (ELS) lenses. This study develops a structured Migration ELS taxonomy to guide a GenAI-assisted semantic classification model designed to identify ELS dimensions in textual data. The model is fine-tuned and evaluated within a human-in-the-loop framework using expert annotations to ensure reliability and interpretive accuracy. As an empirical case, the approach is applied to migration-related official policy documents and narratives of Ukrainian migrants published on the Telegram platform. The resulting framework enables the analysis of alignment between governmental and migrant perspectives, revealing thematic and temporal divergences in ELS dimensions across institutional and user-generated discourse. The findings demonstrate the potential of this scalable framework, which combines taxonomy-driven modelling with generative AI and expert-in-the-loop validation, to reveal patterns of alignment and temporal dynamics in the representation of values across different social groups. This paper examines how remittances-to-GDP are conditionally associated with GDP growth upswings and downturns in four lower-middle-income countries (LMICs) in mainland Southeast Asia—Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam (CLMV)—over 2000–2021, conditional on other external inflows including foreign direct investment (FDI), official development assistance (ODA), and trade openness. Employing a nonlinear Autoregressive Distributed Lag (N-ARDL) model with a Dynamic Fixed Effects (DFE) estimator, this study estimates short- and long-run regime-differentiated associations between GDP growth regimes and remittances to GDP, controlling for foreign direct investment (FDI), official development assistance (ODA), and trade openness. GDP growth is decomposed into above- and below-median regimes, allowing the model to examine whether remittance dynamics differ across growth upswings and downturns. Panel estimates are complemented with dynamic multipliers that trace conditional adjustment paths over different horizons. The results reveal a high-growth-driven regime pattern rather than formal statistical evidence of unequal high- and low-growth coefficients. In the long run, above-median growth significantly reduces remittances to GDP (θ^1=0.130, very strong evidence), consistent with the household insurance motive; below-median growth has no significant long-run association (θ^2=0.127, no evidence). In the short run, above-median growth is positively associated with remittances (β˜^1+=0.033, very strong evidence), while below-median growth again shows no significant short-run response (β˜^1=0.051, no evidence). Formal Wald tests do not reject equality between the high- and low-growth coefficients in either horizon; therefore, the findings should be interpreted as a regime-differentiated significance pattern within a nonlinear specification, not as formal proof of coefficient asymmetry. Taken together, these responses are consistent with a one-sided counter-cyclical interpretation of remittances: remittances to GDP decline when domestic growth is above the median, while no significant adjustment is observed during below-median growth episodes. The pattern documented here is therefore driven by the high-growth regime and should not be read as evidence of an active counter-cyclical surge during downturns. Trade openness and ODA exhibit significant positive short-run co-movement with remittances, whereas FDI shows a strong positive long-run association with remittances to GDP. The novelty of this study lies in providing new panel evidence on regime-differentiated remittance–growth associations for CLMV within a nonlinear N-ARDL and dynamic multiplier framework, while transparently reporting that formal Wald tests do not reject equality between high- and low-growth coefficients. Policy implications center on facilitating reliable remittance channels—reducing transfer costs and expanding financial inclusion—without assuming that remittance inflows automatically rise during downturns. South Korea’s official development assistance to the energy sector has increased steadily over the past decade, reaching USD 232.20 million in 2024. Yet public willingness to pay for renewable energy official development assistance remains largely unknown. This study uses a discrete choice experiment with 1000 nationally representative South Korean respondents and a mixed logit model to estimate marginal willingness to pay for key project attributes, including electrification, greenhouse gas reduction, firm expansion, expert training, and reputation enhancement. The results show that greenhouse gas reduction and expert training receive the highest willingness to pay, followed by firm expansion. Electrification and reputation enhancement receive relatively low support. The findings also reveal substantial preference heterogeneity, with younger and nationally oriented respondents placing greater value on economic returns. These results provide new donor country evidence on public preferences for renewable energy official development assistance and offer policy implications for designing a more climate-focused and socially supported green aid portfolio. The Tahe red deer is derived from the wild Tarim red deer, an endemic subspecies native to the Tarim Basin in Xinjiang, China. It has recently received official approval as a locally bred deer variety, developed through artificial breeding programs. This breed retains several advantageous traits from its wild ancestors, including tolerance to coarse forage, drought resistance, and a high yield of velvet antlers. To investigate the genetic mechanisms underlying velvet antler production, phenotypic data for antler weight and blood samples were collected from 73 adult Tahe red deer. Whole-genome sequencing and genome-wide association analysis were performed to identify genetic variants associated with antler weight. Population genetic analysis revealed that the observed heterozygosity (Ho) and expected heterozygosity (He) were 0.31291 and 0.32832, respectively, while the nucleotide diversity (π) was 2.17 × 10−3, indicating relatively high genetic diversity within the Tahe red deer population. Using a mixed linear model (MLM), a total of 189 candidate genes and 1387 significant SNP loci associated with antler weight were identified (p < 1.0 × 10−5). Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analysis revealed that these candidate genes are primarily involved in intracellular calcium ion homeostasis, peptide and protein biosynthesis, extracellular matrix organization, the regulation of glycolysis, and cytoskeleton-related processes, including actin filaments and microfibrils. These biological functions are closely related to cell proliferation, differentiation, energy metabolism, and tissue remodeling. The Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis further indicated that the candidate genes are significantly enriched in several pathways, including the Notch signaling pathway, the cGMP–PKG signaling pathway, the regulation of the actin cytoskeleton, ribosome biogenesis, and mucin type O-glycan biosynthesis. These results suggest that these genes may participate in velvet antler growth and development by regulating cell proliferation and differentiation, cytoskeletal remodeling, and protein synthesis. Overall, this study identifies SNP loci and candidate genes significantly associated with antler weight in Tahe red deer, providing a theoretical basis for genetic improvement and marker-assisted selection for velvet antler production in this breed. Observing fluctuations in blood sugar during competitive events yields significant data regarding the metabolic demands placed upon athletes. This investigation sought to delineate the glycemic characteristics of top-level female soccer players throughout official matches. A total of ten elite women’s soccer players (age: 27.2 ± 3.8 years; BMI: 21.7 ± 1.5 kg/m2) from the same team had their interstitial glucose (iG) levels recorded via continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) throughout two distinct match cycles. External physical workloads were captured using global positioning systems. The athletes were categorized by their playing role, as starters or bench players, and the observation window was partitioned into four segments: night-time, pre-match, match, and post-match. Data indicated a between-subject coefficient of variation (CV) of 13% and a within-subject CV of 17%. Starting players showed elevated variability (16% between; 20% within) relative to bench players (9% and 13%). While temporal factors remained stable, playing status influenced iG significantly (F = 5.44, p = 0.006, ηp2 = 0.44). Specifically, starters experienced higher iG during competition versus night (+26.5 mg/dL, p = 0.001), pre-match (+22.2 mg/dL, p = 0.002), and post-match (+25.9 mg/dL, p = 0.004). These findings suggest that CGM may assist staff in developing tailored nutritional interventions, given the wide range of individual responses found in this unexplored field. Full article

Structural Capacity, Food Security-Related Publications, and Crop Production: A Multilevel Global Analysis Across Income Settings

Agricultural performance is often interpreted through agronomic inputs and technological progress; however, the translation of knowledge into production depends on the structural environments in which food systems operate. This study examined the association between food-security-related publication activity and crop production across global income settings from 2000 to 2025, while testing whether governance, health-system, and financial indicators modify that association. A longitudinal ecological panel was constructed, integrating 61,158 Scopus-indexed peer-reviewed articles on food security and related dimensions of healthy food access and availability with 23 crop production indicators grouped into staple, horticultural, and commodity domains. Income-stratified regression models were followed by hierarchical mixed-effects models and moderator screening. In exploratory stratified models, 67 of 92 income-specific associations reached nominal significance; however, only 5 of those 67 associations (7.5%) remained statistically significant after multilevel modelling and false discovery rate correction. Robust associations were concentrated in selected staple and horticultural outcomes, whereas most commodity indicators lost significance after hierarchical adjustment. Structural moderators related to territorial control, corruption, healthy life expectancy, health researcher density, healthcare access and quality, and official development assistance shifted the conditional slopes linking publication activity to crop output. These findings do not support a uniform linear relationship between publication growth and production volume. Instead, they suggest that the alignment between research ecosystems and agricultural output is structurally conditioned and likely mediated by institutional capacity, health-system resilience, and implementation environments. The ecological design, the use of publication counts as an indirect proxy, and the reliance on production volume rather than yield or efficiency should be considered when interpreting these results. Developing countries participating in the Warsaw Framework for Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation Plus (REDD+) (WFR) are eligible to receive financial incentives linked to verified reductions in greenhouse gas emissions from forest-related activities. It is necessary to strategically select priority countries among the WFR participants to achieve REDD+ cooperation and mutual benefits between recipient and donor countries. This study evaluates the mitigation potential of 71 developing countries registered under the WFR (December 2025) using two dimensions: national measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) capacity and the need-effectiveness of official development assistance (ODA) in strengthening MRV capacity. Countries were ranked and classified into six typological groups based on MRV capacity and ODA need-effectiveness. The results show that countries with an intermediate MRV implementation capacity and high ODA need-effectiveness can transition to the MRV implementation phase through policy and financial interventions, suggesting high potential to achieve emission reductions and become priority countries for cooperation. Meanwhile, those with an intermediate MRV implementation capacity but low ODA need-effectiveness were interpreted as types where medium- to long-term cooperation possibilities can be reviewed based on improvements to MRV components. Our findings suggest a two-stage cooperation strategy that integrates short-term MRV-based engagement with long-term ODA-driven capacity-building to expand REDD+ mitigation outcomes under the WFR. The high number of deaths and serious injuries in traffic crashes can be considered a silent global epidemic, as it is still understood by part of society as an inherent consequence of road traffic. There are several risk factors that can increase the occurrence or severity of crashes on roads, acting alone or in combination. Road safety diagnoses based on facts and evidence are essential for improving public policies to reduce victims. With the aim of assisting in these diagnoses and since the official database on these victims is not made available in detail to the public, this work investigates the relationship between seven indicators, collected in field research and in public databases, and the occurrence and fatality of traffic victims in the City of Rio de Janeiro. Linear regression models are developed for each approach and the one with the best statistical parameters is chosen. The model with greater robustness demonstrated that helmet non-use, the density of traffic enforcement cameras, and illiteracy together explain a significant portion of the variation in the fatality rate. The results are considered satisfactory, since a limited number of existing risk factors for road safety were used. Full article
