The concept of blended education, which refers to the intensive integration of digital resources into the teaching process and its mixed online and on-site delivery, combining as much as possible the advantages of both methods in an optimal way, is becoming increasingly popular among teaching tools. There is no universal recipe for designing a successful blended course; the success of such courses is measured entirely through their degree of acceptance among students, defined by their emotional motivation to learn and the obtained practical results. Our study aimed to evaluate the motivational persistence degree (MPS) of medical students in connection with the students’ acceptance of different didactic tools involved in blended-learning approaches. Materials and Method: We investigated a sample comprising 523 students in Dental Medicine or General Medicine, belonging to all years of study, from four main Universities in Romania; we classified them according to their motivational persistence profile (using k-means data clustering) and we comparatively investigated the main relevant features of students in each cluster—gender, age group, opinions about the general usefulness of multimedia resources in the learning process, and their degree of acceptance of specific types of instructional materials involved in blended learning. Results: We found that the students who mostly enjoy the traditional learning style have average motivational persistence skills; they are perseverant and competitive, but they are not so good at planning their daily tasks. They enjoy external directions, set by teachers. The students who most enjoy PowerPoint presentations and those who enjoy instructional videos show similar behavior, both belonging to the cluster with the highest MPS score. They have the best motivational persistence skills amongst all categories; they are particularly excellent at planning and fulfilling daily tasks, as well as following their goals in the long term. The students who mostly enjoy online documentary sources belong also to a cluster with above average MPS score; they excel in fulfilling daily tasks, but exhibit weaker performance in recalling unachieved goals. These results are similar to those already reported in the literature; the strength of our study is in that it provides much more specific evaluations oriented to the motivational persistence degree, which is highly significant in the case of medical students, because it is a measure of their commitment in fulfilling certain tasks. Conclusions: Our results have the potential to highlight reasons for academic success or failure according to a student’ s profile, and will prove helpful in selecting the most appropriate didactic tools. (1) Background: With the growing severity of global environmental issues and increasing consumer health consciousness, green consumption has become a prominent focus in both research and practice. However, studies on the mechanisms of health consciousness and environmental awareness influencing the purchase intentions of sports enthusiasts toward sustainable sports products remain relatively limited. This study investigates how health consciousness and environmental awareness impact the green consumption behavior of sports enthusiasts through psychological pathways, including attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control, aiming to reveal their underlying mechanisms. (2) Methods: Based on the extended Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), this study developed a theoretical model incorporating health consciousness and environmental awareness. Data were collected via a questionnaire survey, yielding 407 valid responses. The sample was gender-balanced (52.8% male, 47.2% female), predominantly consisting of young individuals aged 26–35 (44.7%) and 18–25 (28.0%), with primary occupations being company employees/managers (46.2%) and students/teachers (25.3%). The collected data were analyzed using SPSS and AMOS software to systematically evaluate the research hypotheses and the model’s applicability. (3) Results: The model exhibited excellent fit indices, with a χ2/df value of 2.129, an RMSEA value of 0.053, an RMR value of 0.029, and GFI, CFI, NFI, and NNFI values all exceeding 0.90, indicating that the model structure adequately explained the relationships among latent variables. All research hypotheses were significantly supported (p < 0.01), demonstrating that health consciousness and environmental awareness not only directly influence purchase intentions but also exert significant indirect effects through attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control. (4) Conclusions: Health consciousness and environmental awareness are critical drivers of sports enthusiasts’ purchasing behavior for sustainable sports products. This study deepens the understanding of the mechanisms underlying green consumption behavior and offers practical implications for related businesses. Companies should enhance product healthiness and environmental friendliness while optimizing consumer psychological perceptions to increase purchase intentions. Full article

The LBS2ITS project, titled “Curricula Enrichment Delivered through the Application of Location-Based Services to Intelligent Transport Systems”, is a collaborative initiative funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union. The primary objectives of the project were twofold: to develop new curricula and modernize existing programs at four universities in Sri Lanka. This effort was driven by the need to align educational offerings with the rapidly evolving fields of Location-Based Services (LBSs) and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITSs). A key feature of the LBS2ITS project is its interdisciplinary approach, which draws on expertise from a range of academic disciplines. The project has successfully developed curricula that integrate diverse fields such as geomatics, cartography, transport engineering, urban planning, environmental engineering, and computer science. By blending these perspectives, the curricula provide students with a holistic understanding of LBSs and ITSs, preparing them to address complex, real-world challenges that span multiple sectors. In this paper, the curriculum development and modernization process is detailed, with a particular focus on the two key phases: teacher training and curriculum development. The teacher training phase was crucial in equipping educators with the skills and knowledge necessary to deliver the new and updated courses. This phase also provided an opportunity for teachers to familiarize themselves with the latest trends and technologies in LBSs and ITSs, ensuring that they could effectively convey this information to students. The development phase focused on the creation of the curriculum itself, ensuring that it met both academic standards and industry needs. The curriculum was designed to be flexible and responsive to emerging technologies and methodologies, allowing for continuous improvement and adaptation. Additionally, the paper delves into the theoretical frameworks underpinning the methodologies employed in the project. These include Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Problem-Based e-Learning (PBeL), both of which encourage active student engagement and foster critical thinking by having students tackle real-world problems. The emphasis on PBL ensures that students not only acquire theoretical knowledge but also develop practical problem-solving skills applicable to their future careers in LBSs and ITSs. Furthermore, the project incorporated rigorous quality assurance (QA) mechanisms to ensure that the teaching methods and curriculum content met high standards. This included regular feedback loops, stakeholder involvement, and iterative refinement of course materials based on evaluations from both students and industry experts. These QA measures are essential for maintaining the relevance, effectiveness, and sustainability of the curricula over time. In summary, the LBS2ITS project represents a significant effort to enrich and modernize university curricula in Sri Lanka by integrating cutting-edge technologies and interdisciplinary approaches. Through a combination of innovative teaching methodologies, comprehensive teacher training, and robust quality assurance practices, the project aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the fields of LBSs and ITSs. The collaboration between teachers, researchers, and educators has proven essential in advancing teacher professional development and improving pupils’ outcomes. This study investigates the effect of co-creating instructional materials and lesson plans on pupils’ mathematics problem-solving skills by employing the principles of co-creation and design-based research (DBR) to collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data, providing a comprehensive understanding of the outcomes. A sample of 530 pupils from six primary schools was used, and data were collected using problem assessment sheets for primary 1, 2, and 3 pupils. The assessment tools measured pupils’ problem-solving understanding and competencies across numbers and algebra, measurement and geometry, and data strands. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were applied. The findings revealed that pupils’ performance improved across all three strands due to the co-creation process, with the most significant improvements observed among female pupils and those from rural schools. The factorial ANOVA results showed a significant interaction effect between class level and school location in the geometry and measurement and data strands, with F (2, 518) = 15.15, p < 0.001, and F (2, 518) = 12.28, p < 0.001, respectively. However, the interaction effect of the three independent variables on pupils’ performance in the numbers and algebra strand, F (2, 518) = 1.073, p = 0.342, was not significant. The study concludes that co-creation between teachers, researchers, and educators holds substantial potential for enhancing the teaching and learning of problem solving in schools and provides an excellent opportunity for teachers, educators, and researchers to harness their skills and competencies to improve mathematics teaching and learning. In the context of distribution networks, constructing 3D point cloud maps is crucial, particularly for UAV navigation and path planning tasks. Methods that utilize reflections from surfaces, such as laser and structured light, to obtain depth point clouds for surface modeling and environmental depth estimation are already quite mature in some professional scenarios. However, acquiring dense and accurate depth information typically requires very high costs. In contrast, monocular image-based depth estimation methods do not require relatively expensive equipment and specialized personnel, making them available for a wider range of applications. To achieve high precision and efficiency in UAV distribution networks, inspired by knowledge distillation, we employ a teacher–student architecture to enable efficient inference. This approach maintains high-quality depth estimation while optimizing the point cloud to obtain more precise results. In this paper, we propose KD-MonoRec, which integrates knowledge distillation into the semi-supervised MonoRec framework for UAV distribution networks. Our method demonstrates excellent performance on the KITTI dataset and performs well in collected distribution network environments. Full article

The lockdown during the pandemic questioned the learning and working conditions but underlined crucially the teaching pedagogy and new essential teachers’ roles and competencies, and on the whole, the operational framework of education for quality of education for all. The research was carried out through a European Project and gathered at training centers in two countries focusing on learning and pedagogical issues during the lockdown through focus group discussion methodology and labels analysis. If planning, material resources, and health issues came out as relevant difficulty categories, the findings underlined collaborative projects and capacitating pedagogy as efficient and helpful. The findings also questioned the quality-of-life framework at school and the teaching pedagogy and new teachers’ roles as competencies to cope with such a situation to support transformative learning. The outcomes suggested a positive operational framework, the innovative bienvivance paradigm, derived from medical methodology, which can help school organizations by inner development for outer changes to integrate diversity, equity, and educational quality efforts into their missions. It aims at serving inclusive excellence toward human resource sustainability and zero waste of human resources. It can be seen as an effective framework for quality and equity in education. It supports the UN and UNESCO recommendations and the psycho-socio-economic optimization of human resource issues, which are crucial in these human resource mobility and migrations waves, and broadly copes with global changes. The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) has affected higher education. Students now receive new tools that optimize the performance of current tasks. Universities have also begun implementing AI technologies to help university teachers and improve the quality of educational services and solve the Sustainable Development Goal 4. Hypothetically, it is possible to replace university teachers by using AI technologies. This is a hidden conflict of Sustainable Development Goal 4 and Sustainable Development Goal 8. This research aimed to examine the perceptions of Eastern European students about the possibility of replacing university teachers through AI technologies. The authors used an information study with a bibliometric analysis of 2000 sources, planning the experiments and compiling the questionnaire, surveying 599 students using an electronic questionnaire and cloud technologies, statistical processing questionnaires using Excel tables, and verifying statistical hypotheses. Verification of statistical hypotheses for replies of 599 respondents showed that more than 10% of the surveyed students from Eastern European universities are confident that AI will replace university teachers in five years. It was shown that the opinions of students in the 1st stage (undergraduate study) from the countries of the European Union and countries outside the European Union have significant differences. The obtained results were proven using one-sided testing and standard hypothesis testing level, α = 0.05. The article was completed with multilevel managerial and pedagogical recommendations. These recommendations are designed to increase higher education’s sustainability in AI implementation. Full article

The present study investigated a significant issue among a population with unique characteristics. This research and discussion centered on the challenges of running a school during the COVID-19 pandemic. The central question in this study was, how do school principals perceive their abilities and the skills required to run schools during the pandemic? In addition, this study aimed to assess the awareness of the teachers that were subordinate to these same school principals and the impact of their leadership style. The current study involved 151 teachers and 18 school principals from 18 governmental Bedouin schools in Israel. Structured questionnaires were used to collect data and measure the research variables. To analyze the data, indices and statistical tests were applied using SPSS software. The main research findings indicated that the teachers perceived the leadership styles of their school principals as a formative and rewarding part of their personality and not as an evasive style. The principals reported a high level of availability and accessibility and appropriate communication levels with all of the relevant parties. Moreover, the principals reported their level of decision-making ability as high, their judgment calls as sound, and their organizational planning skills and knowledge-development abilities as excellent. Additionally, cultivating the organizational structure was a priority for the principals; they believed that they could develop a comfortable and supportive organizational atmosphere and that this was the core of their work. The school principals perceived themselves as having the requisite skills, including a high level of ability and efficient team management. Self-confidence and a high level of competence helped the school principals cope with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and traverse them safely. Full article

This study explores the challenges and strategies of education policy implementation of the Excellent Teacher Plan for teacher education sustainability in China. We conduct 36 interviews at one key national, normal university within two campuses, including deans, administers and teachers. It is found that it is difficult to accurately select students who are truly happy and suitable for teaching. The synergy of academy education needs to be further improved. The low comprehensive quality of students leads to the prominent difficulty of training. The guidance and strength of post-employment security policy are still unclear. It is suggested that we should strengthen public publicity and call for greater autonomy in enrollment; establish a collaborative training system and standardize the operation mechanism of the academy system; promote the quality and increment of teaching and balance the cultivation of various types of students; and clarify the post-employment development policy and improve the graduate security system. In addition, the conclusion is offered last. Full article

This study presents a simple indoor air quality diagnosis program for school office spaces, which are occupied for long durations by teachers, and indoor sports facilities, whose utilization has been on the rise in response to high concentrations of pollutants in outdoor air. The proposed program was made with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and Microsoft Excel. This program requires inputs which can be easily determined or measured even by nonexperts and can check the current status of indoor air quality such as CO2 and PM2.5 concentrations and predict the effect if changes are made. In addition, it is possible to diagnose indoor air quality before and after class and compare it with the initial plan so that if it exceeds the indoor air quality maintenance standard range, it can be improved by using a ventilation system and an air purifier. The development of the program was divided into four stages. First, prior research on the influencing factors was investigated. Second, influencing factors affecting the changes in PM2.5 and CO2 concentrations were selected by category to accommodate the various factors, and those selected as input were presented. Third, mass and concentration conservation equations were utilized to derive PM2.5 and CO2 concentration prediction equations according to activity and passage of time, and a VBA code was used for constructing the program. For verification of the developed program, the calculation results were compared with the measured data. The mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) was 19.47% for PM2.5 concentration. In order to improve accuracy, Simulation 2, in which the wind speed and indoor/outdoor air pressure difference are corrected, is presented. The MAPE of PM2.5 concentration by the corrected Simulation 2 was lowered 5.15%. Full article

Developing scientific reasoning (SR) is a central goal of science-teacher education worldwide. On a fine-grained level, SR competency can be subdivided into at least six skills: formulating research questions, generating hypotheses, planning experiments, observing and measuring, preparing data for analysis, and drawing conclusions. In a study focusing on preservice chemistry teachers, an organic chemistry lab course was redesigned using problem-solving experiments and SR video lessons to foster SR skills. To evaluate the intervention, a self-assessment questionnaire was developed, and a performance-based instrument involving an experimental problem-solving task was adapted to the target group of undergraduates. The treatment was evaluated in a pre-post design with control group (cook-book experiments, no SR video lessons) and alternative treatment group (problem-solving experiments, unrelated video lessons). Interrater reliability was excellent (ρ from 0.915 to 1.000; ICC (A1)). Data analysis shows that the adapted instrument is suitable for university students. First insights from the pilot study indicate that the cook-book lab (control group) only fosters students’ skill in observing and measuring, while both treatment groups show an increase in generating hypotheses and planning experiments. No pretest-posttest differences were found in self-assessed SR skills in the treatment groups. Instruments and data are presented and discussed. Full article

The impact and benefit that information and communication technologies (ICT) have in the educational field require new teaching skills. This fact has been increased by the recent crisis caused by COVID-19. This study tries to investigate the level of digital teaching competence (DTC) of Higher Education teachers of Health Sciences, and its relationship with several variables. For this, it has the participation of 300 teachers from the 9 universities of Andalusia (Spain). The research is structured through a descriptive (RQ1) and inferential (RQ2) design. The answers given to the DigCompEdu Check-In questionnaire adapted to the Spanish context are analyzed. The results, which show high levels of reliability of the questionnaire (Cronbach and McDonald) and validity (CFA), indicate that the level of competence is basic-intermediate. In addition, the area in which teachers excel is digital resources. For this reason, it is proposed to structure personalized training plans and continue expanding the characteristics of this study at an international level. Full article

Introduction: Quantifying Home Cooking EnviRonments has applications in nutrition epidemiology, health promotion, and nutrition interventions. This study aimed to develop a tool to quantify household cooking environments and establish its content validity, face validity, and inter-rater agreement. Methods: The Home Cooking EnviRonment and equipment Inventory observation form (Home-CookERI™) was developed as a 24-question (91-item) online survey. Items included domestic spaces and resources for storage, disposal, preparation, and cooking of food or non-alcoholic beverages. Home-CookERITM was piloted to assess content validity, face validity, and usability with six Australian experts (i.e., dietitians, nutrition researchers, chefs, a food technology teacher, and a kitchen designer) and 13 laypersons. Pilot participants provided feedback in a 10 min telephone interview. Home-CookERI™ was modified to an 89-item survey in line with the pilot findings. Inter-rater agreement was examined between two trained raters in 33 unique Australian households. Raters were required to observe each item before recording a response. Home occupants were instructed to only assist with locating items if asked. Raters were blinded to each other’s responses. Inter-rater agreement was calculated by Cohen’s Kappa coefficient (κ) for each item. To optimize κ, similar items were grouped together reducing the number of items to 81. Results: Home-CookERITM had excellent content and face validity with responding participants; all 24 questions were both clear and relevant (X2 (1, n = 19; 19.0, p = 0.392)). Inter-rater agreement for the modified 81-item Home-CookERI™ was almost-perfect to perfect for 46% of kitchen items (n = 37 items, κ = 0.81–1), moderate to substantial for 28% (n = 23, κ = 0.51–0.8), slight to fair for 15% (n = 12, κ = 0.01–0.5), and chance or worse for 11% of items (n = 9, κ ≤ 0.0). Home-CookERITM was further optimized by reduction to a 77-item version, which is now available to researchers. Conclusion: Home-CookERI™ is a comprehensive tool for quantifying Australian household cooking environments. It has excellent face and content validity and moderate to perfect inter-rater agreement for almost three-quarters of included kitchen items. To expand Home-CookERI™ applications, a home occupant self-completion version is planned for validation. Full article
