Dietary reviews contain rich emotional and objective information; however, existing knowledge extraction methods struggle with low-resource scenarios due to sparse and imbalanced label distributions. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a few-shot supervised learning approach. First, we develop a professional dietary–emotional schema by integrating domain knowledge with real-time data to ensure the coverage of diverse emotional expressions. Next, we introduce a dataset optimization method based on dual constraints—label frequency and quantity—to mitigate label imbalance and improve model performance. Utilizing the optimized dataset and a tailored prompt template, we fine-tune the DRE-UIE model for multivariate knowledge extraction. The experimental results demonstrate that the DRE-UIE model achieves a 20% higher F1 score than BERT-BiLSTM-CRF and outperforms TENER by 1.1%. Notably, on a 20-shot subset, the model on the Chinese dataset scores 0.841 and attains a 15.16% F1 score improvement over unoptimized data, validating the effectiveness of our few-shot learning framework. Furthermore, the approach also exhibits robust performance across Chinese and English corpora, underscoring its generalization capability. This work offers a practical solution for low-resource dietary–emotional knowledge extraction by leveraging schema design, dataset optimization, and model fine-tuning to achieve high accuracy with minimal annotated data. Background: Family caregivers are a vital yet often under-recognized part of the healthcare system. They provide essential emotional, physical, and logistical support to individuals with illness, disability, or frailty, and their contributions improve continuity of care and reduce system strain. However, many healthcare and social service providers are not equipped to meaningfully engage caregivers as partners. In Alberta, stakeholders validated the Caregiver-Centered Care Competency Framework and identified the need for a three-tiered education model—Foundational, Advanced, and Champion—to help providers recognize, include, and support family caregivers across care settings. This paper focuses on the development and early evaluation of the Advanced Caregiver-Centered Care Education modules, designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of providers with more experience working with family caregivers. The modules emphasize how partnering with caregivers benefits not only the person receiving care but also improves provider effectiveness and supports better system outcomes. Methods: The modules were co-designed with a 154-member interdisciplinary team and grounded in the competency framework. Evaluation used the first three levels of the Kirkpatrick–Barr health workforce education model. We analyzed pre- and post-surveys from the first 50 learners in each module using paired t-tests and examined qualitative feedback and SMART goals through inductive content analysis. Results: Learners reported a high level of satisfaction with the education delivery and the knowledge and skill acquisition. Statistically significant improvements were observed in 53 of 54 pre-post items. SMART goals reflected intended practice changes across all six competency domains, indicating learners saw value in engaging caregivers as partners. Conclusions: The Advanced Caregiver-Centered Care education improved providers’ confidence, knowledge, and skills to work in partnership with family caregivers. Future research will explore whether these improvements translate into real-world practice changes and better caregiver experiences in care planning, communication, and navigation. Full article

Art therapy serves as a crucial intervention modality for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), demonstrating unique value in emotional expression, sensory integration, and social communication. However, current practice presents critical challenges, including the disconnect between design expertise and clinical needs, unclear mechanisms of environmental factors’ impact on therapeutic outcomes, and insufficient evidence-based support for technology integration. Purpose: This study aimed to construct an evidence-based theoretical framework for art therapy environment design for children with autism, clarifying the relationship between environmental design elements and therapeutic effectiveness. Methodology: Based on the Web of Science database, this study employed a dual-track approach comprising bibliometric analysis and micro-qualitative content analysis to systematically examine the knowledge structure and developmental trends. Research hotspots were identified through keyword co-occurrence network analysis using CiteSpace, while 24 representative design cases were analyzed to gain insights into design concepts, emerging technologies, and implementation principles. Key Findings: Through keyword network visualization analysis, this study identified ten primary research clusters that were systematically categorized into four core design elements: sensory feedback design, behavioral guidance design, emotional resonance design, and therapeutic support design. A responsive therapeutic environment conceptual framework was proposed, encompassing four interconnected components based on the ABC model from positive psychology: emotional, sensory, environmental, and behavioral dimensions. Evidence-based design principles were established emphasizing child-centeredness, the promotion of multisensory expression, the achievement of dynamic feedback, and appropriate technology integration. Research Contribution: This research establishes theoretical connections between environmental design elements and art therapy effectiveness, providing a systematic design guidance framework for interdisciplinary teams, including environmental designers, clinical practitioners, technology developers, and healthcare administrators. The framework positions technology as a therapeutic mediator rather than a driver, ensuring technological integration supports rather than interferes with children’s natural creative impulses. This contributes to creating more effective environmental spaces for art therapy activities for children with autism while aligning with SDG3 goals for promoting mental health and reducing inequalities in therapeutic access. Breast cancer (BC) is the most prevalent malignancy in women worldwide. Despite most cases being diagnosed in the early stages, patients typically require a multimodal treatment approach. This typically involves a combination of surgery, radiotherapy, systemic treatments (including chemotherapy or immunotherapy), targeted therapy, and endocrine therapy, depending on the disease subtype and the risk of recurrence. Moreover, patients with BC and germline mutations in the breast cancer genes 1 or 2 (BRCA1/BRCA2), (gBRCAm), who are typically young women, often require more aggressive therapeutic interventions. These mutations present unique characteristics that necessitate a distinct treatment approach, potentially influencing the side effect profiles of patients with BC. Regardless of the clear benefit observed with these treatments in terms of reduced recurrence and mortality rates, long-term, treatment-related adverse events occur that negatively affect the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of BC survivors. Thus, long-term adverse events need to be factored into the treatment decision algorithm of patients with early BC (eBC). Physical, functional, emotional, and psychosocial adverse events can occur and represent a significant concern and a challenge for clinicians, patients, and their families. This review article provides an overview of the various long-term adverse events that patients with eBC may experience, including their associated risk factors, as well as management and prevention strategies. We also explore the evidence of the long-term impact of treatment on the HRQoL of patients with gBRCAm. By providing a comprehensive overview of current evidence and recommendations regarding patients’ HRQoL, we aim to equip clinicians with scientific and clinical knowledge and provide guidance to optimize care and improve long-term outcomes. In the last two decades, the prevalence of South Asian migrant workers has significantly increased in the UAE’s construction sector, and they are under huge debt. Although researchers heavily stress the role of employers in migrant workers’ debt, the role of debt before departure has not been investigated. Thus, this study bridges this gap in the literature in the context of South Asian construction migrant workers. The objective of this study is to investigate how informal recruitment fees and debt arrangements contribute to bonded labor and dependency among migrant workers. A qualitative approach was used to conduct in-depth interviews with 30 South Asian migrants employed in the construction sector. This article highlights how pre-migration debt—which is often accrued through informal loans and exploitative recruitment fees—has been underexplored in migration studies. Drawing on interviews with 30 South Asian laborers, this study identifies five interconnected themes: pre-migration debt bondage, exploitative lending practices, lack of legal recourse, emotional manipulation, and a cycle of dependency. While UAE labor policies have improved, the real vulnerabilities lie in the informal recruitment systems and weak oversight in migrant workers’ countries of origin. Consequently, five themes were generated from the analysis: pre-migration debt bondage, exploitative lending practices, no legal recourse, emotional manipulation, and cycles of dependency. This study contributes to our existing knowledge by revealing the experiences of migrant construction workers from South Asia in the UAE. While the UAE has established one of the region’s most progressive legal frameworks to protect migrant workers and set clear labor standards, many exploitative practices occur outside its jurisdiction, particularly in the workers’ countries of origin. This study underscores that the root of the problem lies in weak enforcement and informal recruitment networks in sending countries, not in UAE policy itself. Addressing these challenges requires coordinated international action to ensure that migrant protection begins well before arrival. Full article

Urban wetlands are increasingly recognized for their ecological and cultural benefits, yet remain underutilized due to limited public awareness and environmental literacy. This study investigates how visitors’ perceptions of wetland ecosystem services influence their motivations to engage with a constructed wetland in Putrajaya, Malaysia. By integrating the ecosystem services framework with push-pull motivation theory, the research aims to bridge knowledge gaps and inform sustainable wetland tourism planning. A structured questionnaire was administered to 420 visitors, with 385 valid responses (response rate: 91.7%). Data were analyzed using non-parametric tests (Kruskal–Wallis, Spearman correlation) and multiple regression analysis. Results show that cultural and regulating services are perceived most positively, while emotional restoration and aesthetic appreciation emerged as key motivational drivers. Regression findings reveal that push factors are stronger predictors of ecosystem service engagement than pull factors. These insights highlight the importance of emotional and psychological connections to nature, offering practical implications for urban wetland management, visitor education and environmental communication strategies. The use of augmented reality (AR) tools and innovative learning environments in education have increased over the last few years due to the rapid advancement of technology. In this study, an AR mathematics learning intervention has been proposed which consisted of the creation of 3D multibase blocks to perform AR arithmetic calculations conducted through active methodologies in the future classroom lab (FCL). The aim of this study was to analyze pre-service teachers’ (PSTs) affective domain (emotion, self-efficacy, and attitude), engagement, motivation, and confidence. The sample consisted of 97 PSTs enrolled on the second year of the Primary Education degree, who were attending the “Mathematics and its Didactics” subject. The findings revealed a significant increase in PSTs’ satisfaction, fun, confidence, and pride, and a decrease in uncertainty, nervousness, and concern. Regarding PSTs’ self-efficacy, a significant improvement was observed in knowing the necessary steps to teach mathematical concepts and work in the FCL. No significant differences were found in attitude, engagement, and motivation; however, the PSTs showed a high disposition in all of them before starting the intervention. Additionally, the PSTs reported to be more confident, and it enhanced their knowledge in the use of 3D design and AR applications to create multibase blocks to support the teaching–learning content of arithmetic operations. This study investigated individuals’ emotional responses to bed bugs and how these were influenced by sex, proximity, and educational intervention. Using a pre-post experimental design, participants (n = 157) completed emotional assessments before and after viewing an educational video about bed bugs. Contrary to our initial hypothesis that only fear and disgust would be observed, participants also exhibited high levels of anxiety and anger. Following the educational intervention, disgust, fear, and anger toward bed bugs increased significantly. Participants experienced greater disgust and fear when imagining encounters with bed bugs in closer proximity, with home infestations giving stronger responses than workplace scenarios. The educational video reduced disgust toward bed bugs in the home but increased fear of them in public spaces, potentially promoting vigilance that could limit bed bug spread. Females reported higher levels of disgust and fear than males across all proximity conditions, supporting evolutionary theories regarding sex-specific disgust sensitivity. The educational video successfully increased participants’ knowledge about bed bugs while simultaneously shifting emotional responses from contamination-based disgust to threat-specific fear. These findings suggest that educational interventions can effectively modify emotional responses to bed bugs, potentially leading to more rational management behaviors by transforming vague anxiety into actionable awareness of specific threats. Background: Cancer is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide and in Spain. Individuals with cancer are at a higher risk of suicide compared to the general population due to both general and disease-specific risk factors. Objective: To update knowledge on nursing care measures to address the risk of suicide in cancer patients. Methods: A narrative review was conducted by searching PubMed, WOS, Scopus, and CINAHL during February and March 2025. The inclusion criteria comprised original qualitative, quantitative, and/or mixed-methods studies related to the topic of the review. Results: Of the 289 identified studies, 23 were selected. Twelve studies of cancer patients, ten studies of healthcare professionals, and one study of caregivers and survivors were included. Regarding suicide risk factors, eight studies addressed demographic aspects, fifteen socio-economic factors, twenty-one psycho-emotional factors, and seventeen physical factors. Key risk factors included male sex, advanced age, social isolation, lack of social support, hopelessness, and physical deterioration. Seventeen studies highlighted the need for continuous and comprehensive nursing care using validated tools for systematic assessment of suicide risk. Eight emphasised the importance of ongoing training in suicide prevention, which is essential for developing communication skills and improving therapeutic relationships. Five studies underscored the relevance of a holistic approach that addresses the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions of patient care. Six extended this approach to include family members and caregivers. Conclusions: Suicide risk in cancer patients is associated with multiple risk factors. Emotional support and a comprehensive, continuous nursing approach—based on systematic assessments, specialised training, and a holistic focus—are key to effective suicide prevention. Full article

Addressing climate change requires not only knowledge but also psychological resilience. This study examined whether integrating Mental Mode Management (MMM) self-regulation training with climate education improves pro-environmental outcomes and emotional responses to climate change. In a randomised 2 × 2 design, 44 participants were assigned to either a control group (CG; n = 21), which received a six-week climate education programme, or an experimental group (MMM; n = 23), which received the same education plus MMM training. Pro-environmental attitudes, behaviours, carbon emissions, climate change anxiety, mindfulness, and executive functions were assessed at baseline and post-intervention. A follow-up was also conducted six months later. Both groups showed increased pro-environmental attitudes post-intervention (η2 = 0.3) and reduced food-related emissions (η2 = 0.107). No changes were observed in pro-environmental behaviour scores or global carbon footprint. While neither intervention affected overall climate anxiety or cognitive impairment, functional impairment increased in the CG and decreased in the MMM group (η2 = 0.177), with mindfulness facet acting with awareness moderating this effect. These findings contribute to sustainability research by showing that integrating climate education with psychological training enhances environmental awareness and fosters emotionally resilient engagement with climate challenges, supporting individual-level contributions to broader sustainability goals. Nursing students encounter several challenges as they progress through their educational journey, particularly in integrating theoretical knowledge with practical applications using simulation-based learning (SBL). This study aimed to comprehensively assess the effects of SBL on nursing competence, self-efficacy, and overall satisfaction among undergraduate nursing students at Tabuk University, Saudi Arabia. A total of 136 students participated in this study, which employed a mixed-methods sequential explanatory design including a quantitative cross-sectional survey complemented by qualitative interviews to capture a holistic view of their experiences with SBL. The findings revealed high levels of satisfaction and self-confidence among students participating in SBL, indicating its effectiveness as an academic tool for enhancing learning outcomes. Significant positive correlations were observed among nursing competence, satisfaction, and self-confidence in the SBL context. This suggests that successful engagement in this educational approach can lead to improved clinical skills and preparedness for real-world challenges. The qualitative findings further illuminated the emotional and cognitive engagement experienced by students during the SBL sessions. The participants emphasized the importance of skill mastery in a safe and controlled environment and the positive impact of advanced technologies, such as virtual simulations, on their learning experiences. This study aims to assess disaster preparedness among healthcare professionals in primary healthcare centers (PHCs) in Alqurayat, Saudi Arabia, with a specific focus on evaluating technical competencies, psychosocial readiness, and predictive modeling of preparedness levels. A mixed-methods approach was employed, incorporating structured questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and observational data from disaster drills to evaluate the preparedness levels of 400 healthcare workers, including doctors, nurses, and administrative staff. The results showed that while knowledge (mean: 3.9) and skills (mean: 4.0) were generally moderate to high, notable gaps in overall preparedness remained. Importantly, 69.5% of participants reported enhanced readiness following simulation drills. Machine learning models, including Random Forest and Artificial Neural Networks, were used to predict preparedness outcomes based on psychosocial variables such as emotional intelligence, teamwork, and stress management. Sentiment analysis and topic modeling of qualitative responses revealed key themes including communication barriers, psychological safety, and the need for ongoing training. The findings highlight the importance of integrating both technical competencies and psychosocial resilience into disaster management programs. This study contributes an innovative framework for evaluating preparedness and offers practical insights for policymakers, disaster planners, and health training institutions aiming to strengthen the sustainability and responsiveness of primary healthcare systems. Multilayer Network Modeling for Brand Knowledge Discovery: Integrating TF-IDF and TextRank in Heterogeneous Semantic Space

In the era of homogenized competition, brand knowledge has become a critical factor that influences consumer purchasing decisions. However, traditional single-layer network models fail to capture the multi-dimensional semantic relationships embedded in brand-related textual data. To address this gap, this study proposes a BKMN framework integrating TF-IDF and TextRank algorithms for comprehensive brand knowledge discovery. By analyzing 19,875 consumer reviews of a mobile phone brand from JD website, we constructed a tri-layer network comprising TF-IDF-derived keywords, TextRank-derived keywords, and their overlapping nodes. The model incorporates co-occurrence matrices and centrality metrics (degree, closeness, betweenness, eigenvector) to identify semantic hubs and interlayer associations. The results reveal that consumers prioritize attributes such as “camera performance”, “operational speed”, “screen quality”, and “battery life”. Notably, the overlap layer exhibits the highest node centrality, indicating convergent consumer focus across algorithms. The network demonstrates small-world characteristics (average path length = 1.627) with strong clustering (average clustering coefficient = 0.848), reflecting cohesive consumer discourse around key features. Meanwhile, this study proposes the Mul-LSTM model for sentiment analysis of reviews, achieving a 93% sentiment classification accuracy, revealing that consumers have a higher proportion of positive attitudes towards the brand’s cell phones, which provides a quantitative basis for enterprises to understand users’ emotional tendencies and optimize brand word-of-mouth management. This research advances brand knowledge modeling by synergizing heterogeneous algorithms and multilayer network analysis. Its practical implications include enabling enterprises to pinpoint competitive differentiators and optimize marketing strategies. Future work could extend the framework to incorporate sentiment dynamics and cross-domain applications in smart home or cosmetic industries. Full article

Background: The number of people with heart failure (HF) is rapidly increasing globally. Self-care plays a key role in improving HF outcomes. The readiness to engage in heart failure self-care (HFSC) behaviors encompasses a commitment to change and the capacity to make the change. Commitment is a personal investment and value toward enacting self-care and health-related behaviors. Capacity includes an individual’s skills, knowledge, beliefs, previous experience, and resources. Aim: The aim of this study was to describe patient-identified commitment and capacity factors influencing their readiness to carry out HFSC behaviors. Methods: A qualitative study using thematic analysis was conducted using data from 21 interviews to develop readiness for HFSC themes. Results: The commitment themes identified were cultural values and beliefs, social roles, will to live, attitude, self-efficacy, HF perceptions, and general emotional state. Capacity themes included HF literacy, functional capacity, environmental resources, comorbidities, time, cognitive functioning, and social support. Conclusions: Novel themes related to an individual’s commitment to HFSC activities included their will to live and social roles, while time emerged as a consideration in the capacity to engage in self-care. To optimize HF outcomes, people with HF must be ready to engage in HFSC. Evaluating an individual’s readiness for HFSC can focus healthcare team efforts on targeting specific self-care activities that require intervention. Enhancing readiness by intervening with specific commitment and capacity factors is a step toward optimizing HFSC and improving patient outcomes. Full article

Background: Pediatric Crohn’s Disease (CD) affects more than physical health, influencing emotional well-being, social integration, and developmental milestones, with an impact on disease management. This study aimed to explore adolescents’ lived experiences with CD and identify factors influencing their motivation for self-management. Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional qualitative study was conducted using a semi-structured, self-administered online questionnaire. Participants (n = 10) were adolescents with CD who had been diagnosed for over three years and were recruited from a tertiary pediatric gastroenterology center. Data included demographics, clinical characteristics, IMPACT-III (HRQOL), and PROMIS short forms. Open-ended responses underwent thematic analysis using the framework developed by Braun and Clarke. Results: Participants (80% female, median age 16.2 years, median disease duration 4.6 years) were all in clinical remission (median PCDAI = 2) and with good quality of life (median IMPACT-III = 80.7). Six themes emerged: (1) disease knowledge, (2) emotional responses, (3) coping and adaptation, (4) social support, (5) daily life and school impact, and (6) transition to adult care. Most participants demonstrated strong disease literacy and reported effective coping strategies. Emotional responses to diagnosis ranged from relief (60%) to distress (40%); relapses commonly triggered anxiety and fear. Therapeutic changes and disease monitoring were perceived as beneficial (100%) but with concern. Diagnostic procedures were viewed as burdensome by 70% of respondents. School performance and extracurricular participation were negatively affected in 40% during flares. Concerns regarding the future were reported by 40% of participants, with 30% believing that CD might limit life aspirations. While 60% managed their disease independently, 30% relied on parental support. All acknowledged the need for transition to adult care, though readiness varied. Conclusions: This study illustrates the overall impact of disease on pediatric CD patients. It reports significant emotional challenges and difficulties, as well as an impact on daily life, despite good disease knowledge. The findings underscore the importance of psychosocial well-being, ongoing mental health assessment, non-invasive monitoring, and holistic care, emphasizing the patient perspective, in managing pediatric CD.
