Hydrodynamic cavitation in Venturi devices is strongly influenced by geometry and is increasingly considered as a non-thermal route for process intensification in continuous-flow applications, including water-treatment contexts. However, Venturi design practice still relies largely on incremental modifications of circular throats and on loosely formalized heuristics, which limits reproducibility and systematic comparison. This work presents a reproducible geometry-driven framework for the design of an equal-width Venturi throat under a fixed transverse envelope constraint. Two parameterized configurations are considered: a constant-width Reuleaux-triangle cross section (VRA) and a controlled axial-twist variant (VRAt). A minimal set of geometric design indicators is formulated in terms of throat flow area, wetted perimeter, hydraulic diameter, and geometric near-wall coverage within a prescribed thickness; for VRAt, a dimensionless kinematic factor is additionally introduced to quantify the path-length increase associated with the imposed twist. Under equal-width conditions, the Reuleaux section preserves the wetted perimeter of the circular reference while reducing flow area, whereas the twisted variant preserves the same transverse throat metrics and isolates twist as an explicit geometric design variable. The contribution is methodological: it provides a reproducible framework for early-stage geometric design and comparison of Venturi configurations relevant to hydrodynamic cavitation. It does not, by itself, report experiments, validation, or hydraulic, cavitation, or water-treatment performance predictions. Full article

Hydrodynamic cavitation is one of the most promising technologies for sustainable process intensification in the food, nutraceutical, and environmental sectors, due to its ability to generate highly localized and intense implosions. Venturi-type devices, known for their simplicity and efficiency, are widely used for non-thermal extraction, microbial inactivation, and cellular disruption. However, the effectiveness of cavitation critically depends on internal geometry—particularly the perimeter-to-area ratio (P/A), which influences both pressure gradient distribution and the density of nucleation sites. In this context, an innovative configuration based on the Reuleaux triangle is proposed, allowing for a significant increase in the P/A ratio compared to conventional circular-section devices. This theoretical study extends the Navier–Stokes and Rayleigh–Plesset models to describe bubble dynamics and assess the influence of geometric and rotational variants (VRAt) on the localization and intensity of cavitation collapse. The results suggest that optimized internal geometries can reduce treatment times, increase selectivity, and improve the overall energy efficiency of cavitation processes, offering strong potential for advanced and sustainable industrial applications. This work is entirely theoretical and is intended to support the future design and experimental validation of next-generation cavitating devices. Full article

Angelman syndrome (AS) is a genetic neurological disorder resulting in cognitive and neuromuscular impairments, such as lack of safety awareness and attention, as well as lack of balance and locomotor control. The robotic interactive gait training (RIGT) system is designed to provide accurate proprioceptive, kinematic, and kinetic feedback, and facilitate virtual reality and augmented reality (VR-AR) interactive exercises during gait training. In the present case report, we examined the effect of an innovative hip-knee-ankle interlimb-coordinated RIGT system. We utilized this therapeutic modality in a participant with Angelman syndrome (AS). Gross motor function measures, risk of fall, and gait-related kinetic (force), and kinematic (joint angle) biomechanical characteristics were assessed before and after 20 sessions of RIGT with VR-AR. We found RIGT with VR-AT improved gait ability, as shown by Performance-Oriented Mobility Assessment score, gross motor function by Gross Motor Function Measure score, balance by Pediatric Balance Scale score, knee and hip joint kinetics, and kinematics during gait. Our clinical and biomechanical evidence provide important clinical insights to improve the effectiveness of current neurorehabilitation approaches for treating patients with AS in balance and locomotor control and reduce the risk of falling. The advent of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) inhibitors that directly inhibit tumor growth and of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) that boost effector T cell responses have strongly improved the treatment of metastatic melanoma. In about half of all melanoma patients, tumor growth is driven by gain-of-function mutations of BRAF (v-rat fibrosarcoma (Raf) murine sarcoma viral oncogene homolog B), which results in constitutive ERK activation. Patients with a BRAF mutation are regularly treated with a combination of BRAF and MEK (MAPK/ERK kinase) inhibitors. Next to the antiproliferative effects of BRAF/MEKi, accumulating preclinical evidence suggests that BRAF/MEKi exert immunomodulatory functions such as paradoxical ERK activation as well as additional effects in non-tumor cells. In this review, we present the current knowledge on the immunomodulatory functions of BRAF/MEKi as well as the non-intended effects of ICI and discuss the potential synergistic effects of ICI and MAPK inhibitors in melanoma treatment. Nowadays, NAND Flash technology is everywhere, since it is the core of the code and data storage in mobile and embedded applications; moreover, its market share is exploding with Solid-State-Drives (SSDs), which are replacing Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) in consumer and enterprise scenarios. To keep the evolutionary pace of the technology, NAND Flash must scale aggressively in terms of bit cost. When approaching ultra-scaled technologies, planar NAND is hitting a wall: both academia researchers and industry worked to cope with this issue for several decades. Then, the 3D integration approach turned out to be the definitive alternative by eventually reaching mass production. This review paper exposes several 3D NAND Flash memory technologies, along with their related integration challenges, by showing their different layouts, scaling trends and performance/reliability features. In search of a new potent as an antioxidant from natural sources, plumieride—an iridoid isolated from the methanol extract of the bark of Plumeria bicolor (family Apocynaceae) was evaluated for its antioxidant potential against CCl4-induced peroxidative damage in liver of rats. The antioxidant potential was evaluated by using hepatic tissue for SOD (superoxide dismutase), CAT (catalase), GSH (reduced glutathione), GPx (glutathione peroxidase), GR (glutathione reductase) and LPO (lipid peroxidation) alongwith the concomitant blood serum for AST & ALT (aspartate and alanine transaminases), GGT (gamma glutamyl transpeptidase), ALP (alkaline phosphatase), total bilirubin and total protein contents. All the biochemical parameters were significantly (p ≤ 0.001) altered by CCl4 (0.3 mL/kg body weight/twice a week, intra-peritoneally for 30 days). Simultaneously, oral treatment with plumieride (5, 10 and 20 mg/kg body weight/day for 30 days), restored all the parameters towards a normal level, remarkably. The histological findings of liver sections further corroborated the antioxidant potential of plumieride compared with standard drug-silymarin. In conclusion, plumieride consists of sugar molecules, which have alcoholic groups. Therefore, the alcoholic groups of sugar increase its antioxidant potential through intermolecular hydrogen bonding along with the thiol(SH) group of non-protein thiols and enzymes resulting in the restoration of the antioxidant system. Therefore, it might be considered a natural antioxidant against peroxidative damage in rats. Full article

The antioxidant and hepatoprotective activities of the extract of Moringa oleifera leaves were investigated against CCl4-induced hepatotoxicity in rats. Hepatotoxic rats were treated with ethanol extract of Moringa oleifera for a period of 60 days at the following three dose levels; 100, 200 and 400 mg/kg body weight/day, orally. The activities were studied by assaying the serum marker enzymes like SGOT, SGPT, GGT, LDH, ALP, ACP, as well as total bilirubin, total protein and albumin in serum concomitantly with the activities of LPO, SOD, CAT, GSH, GR and GPx in liver. The activities of all parameters registered a significant (p ≤ 0.001) alteration in CCl4 treated rats, which were significantly recovered towards an almost normal level in rats co-administered with M. oleifera extract in a dose-dependent manner. All the biochemical investigations were confirmed by the histopathological observations and compared with the standard drug. silymarin. Results suggest that the antioxidant and hepatoprotective activities of M. oleifera leaves are possibly related to the free radical scavenging activity which might be due to the presence of total phenolics and flavonoids in the extract and/or the purified compounds β-sitosterol, quercetin and kaempferol, which were isolated from the ethanol extract of M. oleifera leaves.
