Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The field of spine surgery is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by the rapid integration of advanced technologies. These innovations are fundamentally changing how we approach complex spinal pathologies, aiming to enhance surgical precision, improve safety, and optimize patient-specific outcomes. From preoperative planning to postoperative recovery, digital tools are creating a new paradigm for patient care.

This Special Issue, "Technology Integration in Spine Surgery: Navigation, Robotics, AI, and Digital Health," aims to collate high-impact original research and comprehensive reviews detailing these advancements. We seek to highlight the clinical application, efficacy, and future potential of technologies that are revolutionizing diagnostics, intraoperative execution, and longitudinal patient management.

We are pleased to invite you to submit your contributions. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following: Computer-assisted navigation (e.g., 2D/3D fluoroscopy, CT-based navigation); Robotic-assisted spine surgery for instrumentation or decompression; Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in diagnostic imaging, surgical planning, or predictive outcome modeling; Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) in surgical training and intraoperative guidance; Digital health platforms, telehealth, and remote monitoring for postoperative care; and Advances and applications of intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM). Original research articles and reviews are welcome. We look forward to receiving your valuable contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Surgeries is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.
