Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The massive and pervasive diffusion of the internet in daily life has produced profound effects both in social contexts and in training agencies. Online systems have experienced a sudden change and have created opportunities for experimentation. The specifics of online dynamics have also produced specific educational emergencies linked to high levels of stress and demotivation due to particular online contingencies. Social participation, the sense of belonging, and the concept of community take on a renewed meaning in social networks and systems structured by new media. Work, school, and entertainment are characterised by increasingly complex collaboration models between users. The same idea of sociomateriality (Potter and McDougall, 2017) develops from the interaction between users and digital artefacts between the body and the context of interaction. The space is re-signified by the interaction between the real and virtual, redefining concepts, categories, and the identities of the subjects who move in a network of relationships and objectives. The social element of online systems decrees the quality and success of all the activities in which collaboration and networking are the basis. Analysing online dynamics from a perspective that intersects social action and communication can offer the following innovative research perspectives:

  • Social perspective
  • Online system
  • Psychological dynamics
  • Social media
  • Online technologies
  • Networking
  • Collaborative learning
  • Social interaction
  • Participation
  • Community
