Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Christian ethical and theological conversations about war in the modern era have frequently focused on the views and experiences of white, English-speaking North Americans and Western Europeans. This special issue of Religions seeks contributions pertaining to Christian discourse on war in other regions—in particular, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Asia—as well as articles that focus on Christians in the West who have ties to indigenous and/or minority cultures.

Articles may focus on how Christians in these regions or cultures utilize, critique, or modify familiar Western categories such as just war, holy war, and pacifism, or on how they make other distinctive contributions to Christian analysis of war and peace. Studies of both theorists and practitioners—e.g., soldiers, chaplains, and commanders—are welcome. As appropriate, preference will be given to articles that utilize source materials in languages other than English.
