Section Information (old version): |
Neuropsychology provides essential tools and insights to help neuroscientists, patients, and other stakeholders gain a deeper understanding of how, why, and in what capacity mental disorders and symptoms manifest. The primary goal of this section is to explore the development of neuropsychological approaches in the investigation, description, measurement, and management of a wide range of mental illnesses and brain disorders. Another key aim is to better articulate the rationale for examining neuropsychological processes within clinical disorders. We seek to bring together the perspectives of neuroscientists and psychologists to foster interdisciplinary collaboration. This section publishes original research across the entire spectrum of neuropsychology, from molecular mechanisms and brain function to the institutional healthcare and environmental factors impacting mental health and brain disorders. It focuses on early diagnosis, prevention, prognosis, interventions, and treatments. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:
This section also explores clinical articles across the fields of clinical psychology, clinical neuropsychology, rehabilitation psychology, counseling, and psychotherapy. Topics may cover the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of psychological disorders within clinical psychology, as well as the role of rehabilitation psychology in recovery and management. We are also keen to explore the integration of eHealth, mHealth, and AI-based treatments relevant to clinical psychology and neuropsychology. Our aim is to present a comprehensive view of these issues, offering both theoretical and practical contributions that can advance the understanding and treatment of mental health and neuropsychological disorders. |
It is well known that most psychiatric disorders are associated with cognitive impairment and that neuropsychological approaches can help unravel the mechanisms and factors underlying mental and brain disorders. Neuropsychology provides tools and insights to help psychiatrists, patients and other stakeholders to develop a better understanding of how, why, and in what capacity these disorders and symptoms occur. The main goal of this section is to understand the development of neuropsychological approaches to the investigation, description, measurement and management of a wide range of mental illnesses and brain disorders. Another goal is to better explain the rationale for examining neuropsychological processes within the clinical disorders. We hope to bring together the perspectives of neuroscientists, psychiatrists and philosophers. This section publishes work across the full continuum of neuropsychology, mental health and brain disorders, from molecules and the brain to institutional healthcare and environmental outcomes impacting mental health and brain disorders. It focuses on early diagnosis, prevention, prognosis, interventions and treatments. Research areas may include (but are not limited to):
