Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
With the advent of the Internet of things, big data and platform-based technologies and business models, it is necessary to start to seriously rethink the way that value is generated in the construction value chain. The numbers are indicative of an industry in need of process reengineering, coupled with an effective strategy to win the battle of productivity: 40–50% of construction projects suffer delays, 90% of projects exceed expected costs, and 75–90% of on-site work time is considered non-value adding activities.
The concept of “Industry 4.0” sets the frame for competitive (manufacturing) industries thanks to Internet of thing-based technologies. The application of such principles in the construction industry needs a collective understanding (from researchers and practitioners) of the patterns that shape the construction industry.
The act of construction (From project launch until maintenance) is complex in nature and involves a large set of stakeholders. Technology, in support of an agile organization, could unlock the full potential and productivity of the traditional low margin/loss paradigm associated with the construction industry.
This special edition is linked to the 4th Edition of the Annual Civil Engineering Workshop, which is held in Centrale Lille, France.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Logistics is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
