Conference Description and Goals

  • To learn a historical perspective on scientific progress in Lyme and other tick-borne disease.
  • To learn of complicating factors (specifically biofilms and polymicrobial infectious complex), and implications for chonicity, as well as the resulting diagnostic and treatment challenges.
  • To learn and review current state and options for testing, disgnosis and treatment challenges.
  • To learn current thinking on the pathophysiological mechanisms behind chronic diseases that may be relevant to Lyme and other tick-borne diseases.
  • To learn less recognized manifestations of Lyme and other tick-borne diseases, including pediatric, cognitive/psychiatric, visual, and other impacts.
  • To learn from enhanced knowledge-sharing between researchers, tick-borne disease medical experts, with front-line practitioners, and foster the development of networks for continued learning.
