Swiss Federation of Clinical Neuro-Societies (SFCNS)

Society logo

Swiss Federation of Clinical Neuro-Societies (SFCNS) was officially founded in 2009, with a mission to promote collaborations and interactions between clinical neuro-societies in Switzerland in order to enhance interdisciplinary knowledge and overall impact of neuroscience disciplines at medical, scientific, public and political level. Starting with six founding society members (Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neuroradiology, Neuropediatrics, Neuropathology and Clinical Neurophysiology), today 14 societies are members of the SFCNS and help to strengthen the clinical neurosciences in Switzerland. SFCNS aims to encourage interdisciplinary cooperation between different neuroscience disciplines through organizing teaching and scientific events at national as well as local level.

Affiliated Societies

Swiss Headache Society (SHS)

SHS was founded in 1995 and brings together specialists, primary care providers and scientists who work on the subject of headaches. Its aim is to promote research, diagnosis and therapy of headaches and to pass on the latest knowledge to doctors, patients and scientists. SHS is a member of the Swiss Federation of Clinical Neuro-Societies (SFCNS), European Headache Federation, and International Headache Society.

Swiss Neurological Society (SNS)

Swiss Neurological Society (SNS) is the professional association of specialists in neurology that was established in 1908. SNS is also an ordinary member of SFCNS focused on promotion of neurological sciences and neurological teaching in training and further education, maintaining relationships between society members and foreign societies, institutes and scholars. With this in mind, the SNS initiates future-oriented projects and communication with adjacent societies and institutions.

Swiss Society of Neuroradiology (SSNR)

Swiss Society of Neuroradiology (SSNR), a member of Swiss Federation of Clinical Neuro-Societies (SFCNS), was founded in 1987 in Zurich with the goal of promoting the field of neuroradiology in patient care, further education and training. SSNR attempts to hold its annual meetings, together with related societies in the clinical neurodisciplines in order to promote interdisciplinary, collegial communication and the exchange of knowledge.

Swiss Society of Neurosurgery (SSNS)

Swiss Society of Neurosurgery (SSNC) was founded in 1954, as part of a joint meeting with the Swiss Neurological Society (SNS). Its goal is to promote subject-specific teaching, advanced training and research in neurosurgery, as well as teaching and research in close cooperation with clinical neurosciences, especially neurology and neuroradiology. SSNC, an ordinary member of Swiss Federation of Clinical Neuro-Societies (SFCNS), organizes annual meetings for its members, together with other, related societies aiming to exchange knowledge and experience.

Swiss Stroke Society (SSS)

The Swiss Stroke Society (SSS) was founded in April 1996 to provide an interdisciplinary platform for neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists and neurologists who share scientific and clinical interest in the field of stroke. Today, 25 years after its foundation, the SHG is proud to promote an open, consensus-oriented communication between scientists and health care provider. Our society advocates the values of gender equality in the prevention and treatment of patients as well as in the professional life of our members. The medical and scientific exchange is maintained both at the annual SSS conference, the annual Swiss Stroke Trialist’s Meeting, and the meetings co-organized with Swiss Federation of Clinical Neuro-Societies (SFCNS), of which SSS is an associated member.
