Travel Award

Dear Colleagues,

As the section Editor-in-Chief of Computation, I am pleased to announce the winner of the 2019 Computation Travel Award on behalf of the Evaluation Committee:

Dr. Stefan Vuckovic, Post-doctoral researcher at the University of California, whose research combines elements of computational chemistry, mathematics, and physics. He is presently working on developing a framework which provides an extremely promising route for the construction of a new generation of DFT approximations; his research aims at advancing the overall accuracy and efficiency of computational chemistry. Stefan is planning to present his work “A Novel Density Functional Theory (DFT) Framework: Promises for Strong Correlation and Noncovalent Interactions” at the 18th Internation Conference on Density Functional Theory and its Applications. The award consists of 800 Swiss Francs towards attending this conference.

It was a tough decision, given the exceptional quality of applications for the award, and on behalf of the award committee, I wish to thank all applicants and to congratulate Dr. Stefan Vuckovic for his accomplishments.

Prof. Dr. Rainer Breitling,
Section Editor-in- Chief of Computation
