Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The use of Model Predictive Control (MPC) in mineral processing has advanced significantly over the past decade. In any MPC system, dynamic models play a crucial role in the performance of MPC systems. Dynamic models which simulate the behaviour of processing units over time cover a wide range, from simple response surfaces to sophisticated semi-fundamental models which take into account subprocesses which influence the response of the process. One of the critical challenges in developing dynamic models for mineral processing units is to collect experimental and industrial data for validation and verification of the dynamic models. Therefore, current research activities should attempt not only to  develop models but also to develop techniques and tools for small-scale experiments to generate data for model development and verification. Furthermore, methods for collecting industrial data for full-scale validation of dynamic models is essential.

This Special Issue of CivilEng journal aims to gather the most recent research and developments in dynamic modelling for process control in the minerals industry. We would like to invite all researchers and experts who work in this field to submit your papers. The target in this Special Issue is fundamental research on model development, application of dynamic models, and case studies which highlight the role of dynamic models in process control.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. CivilEng is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1200 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
