Feature papers represent the most advanced research with significant potential for high impact in the field. A Feature Paper should be a substantial original Article that involves several techniques or approaches, provides an outlook for future research directions and describes possible research applications.
Feature papers are submitted upon individual invitation or recommendation by the scientific editors and must receive positive feedback from the reviewers.
Editor’s Choice articles are based on recommendations by the scientific editors of MDPI journals from around the world. Editors select a small number of articles recently published in the journal that they believe will be particularly interesting to readers, or important in the respective research area. The aim is to provide a snapshot of some of the most exciting work published in the various research areas of the journal.

Automation (ISSN: 2673-4052) is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal on automation, control, and allied topics. As an open access journal, Automation aims to provide high visibility and timely research impact and is committed to rapid publication. The journal provides a venue for both specialized and multi-disciplinary research on automation and control and their applications.
To further strengthen the development of key research areas and attract high-quality contributions, Automation is currently recruiting Section Editors-in-Chief for the following Sections:
The Section Editor-in-Chief is the leader in their particular field and plays a critical role in ensuring the scientific quality and strategic development of the Section.
The responsibilities of the Section Editor-in-Chief include the following:
As a Section Editor-in-Chief, you will have the unique opportunity to network and communicate with scholars in the automation and control technology community, building long-term relationships and establishing your influence within your discipline. Appointed members will also receive an Editor Certificate confirming their appointment to this role. The term for this position is two years, and this can be renewed.
