Aims & Scope

Aims

Arthropoda (ISSN 2813-3323) is an international, peer-reviewed, open ‎access journal specializing in the study of arthropods, with a focus on non-insect arthropods, published quarterly online by MDPI.

Arthropoda is the sister journal to Insects, providing a publication outlet for research on non-insect arthropods.

The focus of Arthropoda is the publication of high-quality research with a focus on arachnids (mites, scorpions and spiders), myriapods (millipedes, centipedes and allied taxa), pycnogonids, horseshoe crabs and crustaceans. Manuscripts addressing fossil arthropods outside these taxonomic groups are also welcomed. The journal focuses on publishing research articles, reviews, communications and brief reports, but other article types will also be considered. There is no restriction on the maximum length of the papers. The full experimental details must be provided so that the results can be reproduced. A range of multimedia and specialized format files can be accommodated as supplementary files.

We aim to publish a broad range of manuscripts with submissions possible across the breadth of biological science, as long as the focus remains on non-insect arthropods. We also look forward to receiving submissions overlapping with a cross-section of topics as diverse ‎as molecular genetics, behaviour, neuroscience, ‎biomechanics, biochemistry, systematics, physiology, ‎developmental biology, ecology and palaeontology.

Scope

The scope of this journal covers all topics related to non-insect arthropods, running the spectrum from molecules through to populations and individual species, to ecosystem studies. Specific fields of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Morphology, biology, ethology, physiology, ecology, etc.
  • Higher-level systematics.
  • Taxonomy.
  • Phylogeny, evolution, biogeography, phylogeography and population genetics.
  • Palaeontology.
  • Range extensions, new records for a geographical area and species checklists.
  • Invasive species.
  • Biodiversity.
  • Conservation.
  • Pest control.
  • Crustacean fisheries.
  • Impact on and interactions with humans and society.

MDPI Publication Ethics Statement

Committee on Publication Ethics MDPI is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). MDPI takes the responsibility to enforce a rigorous peer-review together with strict ethical policies and standards to ensure to add high quality scientific works to the field of scholarly publication. Unfortunately, cases of plagiarism, data falsification, inappropriate authorship credit, and the like, do arise. MDPI takes such publishing ethics issues very seriously and our editors are trained to proceed in such cases with a zero tolerance policy.
