Author Response

Dear reviewer

You have reason, there are several reviews on T. magnatum. However, most of them (like the reviews that you suggested) are not recent. Several progress were done in truffle biology and ecology in recent years. Our  manuscript is different from the other recent reviews on T. magnatum (which are all cited in our Entry) because the other reviews are focalized  only on some aspects of this species like aromas, microbiome or ecology.

For this reason we think that our entry  is new and that could be interesting.

All the figures are of the Authors. However we substitute the fig,  1 e and fig. 1b  that were adapted from previous published figures.

Kind regards

Reviewer 2 Report

Such article-review, in my opinion, is in great demand in mycology, as they contain concentrated information on individual groups and species of fungi. Collecting such an extensive bibliography, reading and analyzing publications, and then preparing an analytical review - all this requires a lot of time and the highest level of professional training. In our case, the object of analysis is the Italian white truffle - the fungus not only with interesting biology and ecology, but also of great economic importance. Acquaintance with the work leaves the most favorable impression: 1) it is well structured and each section contains brief but complete information; 2) there are not many illustrations, but those that are quite relevant and informative; 3) the text of the article is written in a good language and is easy to read, and, as I think, it will be well received not only by mycologists, but also by people interested in mushrooms and their economic use.

The text should be corrected for typing errors. The manuscript merits to be published without further changes.

‏The self-citations are sorted out

Author Response

Dear Reviewer

Thank you. However the Journal Editor asked us to delete other self-citations.  So we  eliminated other seven  self-citations (ex numbers 2, 10, 23, 57, 58, 74, 106)  (in total 10 with the previous eliminated citations).

King regards
