Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In my opinion, the manuscript is a significant contribution to the field concerning UHMWPE. The subject matter is very interesting, important, and has a special value considering practical applications.
The paper is clearly presented and comprehensively described (75 pages) and scientifically sound. There are appropriate and adequate references to related previous work. This work is important given future numerical modeling work to dimension structural parts in which these UHMWPE yarns will be reinforcements within composites. The authors should correct some figures. Some fonts are unreadable and the figures are of poor quality. I have not found such an exhaustive review. This manuscript in the presented form is acceptable for publication in Textiles after minor revision concerning some figures.

Reviewer 2 Report

The review manuscript submitted by authors related to mechanical behavior of UHMWPE fibers is an interesting script. I will suggest the publication of work after revision.

  1. Motivation for selecting Ultra-High 12 Molecular Weight PolyEthylene) fibers for review need to be well explain in the script.
  2. The title is not well written. Title should be Concise, attractive and informative.
  3. Also while writing the title avoid using acronyms.
  4. Kindly provide the high quality of images in the script. And make it sure that all the adopted figures in the script have copyright permission.
  5. I can see many places in the script, the sentences are without appropriate or no references. Such as on page 6 “Gel drawing appears also to be a promising process in the literature. Indeed, this technique makes it possible to align polymers such as PE quite easily by transforming a dilute gel entanglement network into a highly oriented crystalline structure. The prepared 239 solution initially contains between 2 and 5 wt.% PE in the solvent. These gels correspond  to very disorganized networks. The drawing process can be divided into two parts: firstly,  the preparation of a non-oriented gel filament and, secondly, the treatment of this filament  to form a rigid and resistant highly oriented fiber”
  6. Kindly provide the challenges and future prospect of UHMWPE fibers.
  7. Although a graphical abstract is optional, its use is encouraged as it draws more attention to the online article. The graphical abstract should summarize the contents of the article in a concise, pictorial form designed to capture the attention of a wide readership.
  8. Please write your text in good English (American or British usage is accepted, but not a mixture of these). Authors who feel their English language manuscript may require editing to eliminate possible grammatical or spelling errors and to conform to correct scientific English
  9. Conclusion section on page 48 in the script is too long. Rewrite it again. The main conclusions of the study may be presented in a short Conclusions section, which may stand alone or form a subsection of a Discussion or Results and Discussion section. The Conclusion should not be a summary, but should illustrate the advances and claims of innovative aspects of the research work done.
