Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

I think that the study is very actually and interesting, not only for American context but also as a reference for other countries' medicine system, European too.

I think the paper is well written, but for a simpler comparison among the different studies a table could be useful.

Answer: This is an excellent point. A table has been constructed and included.

Reviewer 2 Report

The research aim is not clearly mentioned in the abstract. The abstract is really confusing. It should be rewritten.

This is just a literature review on addiction. There is no proper link established with COVID-19. The role of telemedicine is not adequately explored. The authors have attempted to explore something new but unfortunately due to weak literature evaluation and proper focus is missing.

Answer: we apologize for this, however, proper studies have been published as of right now on telehealth and COVID. There is an inference that since COVID has put social distancing restrictions in place that telehealth would be privotal in the continuation of services for patients which is especially important in the addiction population. That is what this paper’s focus is about

Reviewer 3 Report

This is an interesting paper discussing the issue of substance use disorder (SUD) during the covid-19 pandemic. It is an excellent starting point for further empirical research in this area.

Answer: We thank you for your time in reviewing our manuscript. That is our hope that this can be a starting point in research in this area. It could possibly also extend past COVID 19 and may be able to reach/help patients that traditional services have missed.

Reviewer 4 Report

This article is very well organized and written.  I think it offers an important and timely analysis of the current situation regrading SUD and the possibilities of new treatment modalities including tele-medicine.  A small comment or suggestion is to perhaps build a brief table which would summarize the various studies, but only if that is really possible or practical.  A second comment, and perhaps a stronger suggestion, that I think is easily added, is a brief comment about the limitations of this article, given that no doubt, many of the studies cited had their own weaknesses and/or limitations.

Answer: Thank you for your excellent points. A table has been constructed and included in this revision. We have also added a comment about the limitations of our review in the conclusion.

Reviewer 5 Report

However authors are encouraged to incorporate few suggestion which are as follows:

  1. Authors are suggested to incorporate comparative study  in tabular form.
  2. Rewrite the conclusion part of the article. Conclusion should be discussion type.
