Following publication of the review article [1], one of the referenced manuscripts was found to have been retracted. To maintain the accuracy of the manuscript, the authors have decided to replace the original reference 42 with a new reference at the same position in the reference list.
Original reference number 42: Wang, P.; Zhang, L.D.; Sun, M.C.; Gu, W.D.; Geng, H.Z. Over-expression of mir-124 inhibits MMP-9 expression and decreases invasion of renal cell carcinoma cells. Eur. Rev. Med. Pharmacol. Sci. 2018, 22, 6308–6314.
New reference number 42: Chen, J.-F.; Ye, S.-Z.; Wang, K.-J.; Meng, X.-y.; Yang, B.-b.; Wu, K.R.; Ma, Q. Long non-coding RNA OSTM1-AS1 promotes renal cell carcinoma progression by sponging miR-491-5p and upregulating MMP-9. Sci. Rep. 2025, 15, 359. https://doi.org/10.1038/s41598-024-83154-4.
The overall numbering and order of the references remain unchanged.
The following text from Section 3, paragraph 10 has been updated after replacing reference 42 “Notably, suppression of MMP-9 via microRNA mir-124 reduces RCC invasiveness in vitro [42].”
Updated text: “Molecular analysis indicates that the long non-coding RNA OSTM1-AS1 drives RCC progression by suppressing miR-491-5p and upregulating MMP-9, while its silencing reverses these effects and reduces invasiveness [42].”
The authors state that the scientific conclusions are unaffected. This correction was approved by the Academic Editor. The original publication has also been updated.
