Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This paper attempted to see if green tea (catechin) induces the browning of WAT in mice.

The overall paper (Introduction Method and Result) would be so nice.

1. However, the reviewer just wants to discuss the green tea effect on human BAT.

Dears Reviewers,

Firstly, we would like to thank you for the opportunity to revise our paper. We have read the reviewer's comments and judged the suggestions very appropriately. We are confident that the edits within this revision have not only satisfied the reviewer's concerns but have significantly improved the manuscript. We hope that our efforts are evident from the responses below and the revised manuscript. Also, we have provided a point-by-point commentary for the reviewer’s comments. We hope our efforts to reach the conditions you have criticized would be enough to have the paper accepted for publication at the Obesities.

Sincerely, Ricardo David Couto.

In this systematic review Ana Paula Azevedo Macedo and colleagues describe the positive effect of green tea on the thermogenesis and browning of white adipose tissue. In fact, green tea reduces adipose tissue weight and increases the expression of markers of browning.

I advise the authors to describe white adipose tissue browning in more detail in the introduction section, as well as include a few more references.

We include more detail in lines 51, 54-55.

Line 59, there is a typing error.

We agree and remove this line.

Since many genes and acronyms are mentioned in the review, I would advise the authors to add a list of abbreviations.

We include a list of abbreviations (lines 403-434).

In my opinion, despite the limitations set out by the authors, the review is interesting and suitable for publication after these revisions. It fits perfectly into the field of the journal. The bibliography is also quite complete, perhaps I would add a few more recent manuscripts. The conclusions are perfectly supported by the cited manuscripts and their comments.
