Publisher’s Note on World and Sustainability

MDPI, St. Alban-Anlage 66, CH-4052 Basel, Switzerland
World 2020, 1(1), 44; https://doi.org/10.3390/world1010004
Submission received: 23 June 2020 / Accepted: 23 June 2020 / Published: 25 June 2020
MDPI provides conferencing services based on our sciforum.net platform. Currently, the most important conference is the World Sustainability Forum series: the fifth World Sustainability Forum, 7–9 September 2015, in Basel, Switzerland [1]; the sixth World Sustainability Forum, 27–28 January 2017, in Cape Town, South Africa [2]; the seventh World Sustainability Forum, 19–21 September 2018, in Beijing, China [3]; and the eighth World Sustainability Forum 15–17 September 2020, Virtual, Basel, Switzerland (originally scheduled to take place in Geneva, Switzerland) [4]. The supporting journal is our flagship journal, Sustainability [5]. Professor Manfred Max Bergman started a book series, Frontiers in Sustainability (ISSN 2409–9309) [6], publishing selected papers that were presented at the World Sustainability Forum conferences. We also decided to publish a new journal, World (https://www.mdpi.com/journal/world). World will be more focused on sustainability topics related to the social sciences, humanities, and related disciplines, and it will be a sister journal to Sustainability [5], which will focus on the natural sciences, technology and engineering.
MDPI was the largest publisher of open access articles in DOAJ in 2018 and the fifth largest publisher of scholarly journals in 2019 [7]. We provide a peer review editorial service of the highest standard, according to the Publons database published this year [8]. We continue to foster close contacts with our authors and reviewers in order to maintain and improve a fast and rigorous peer review, editorial, and publishing process.
We hope you enjoy publishing with us!
