The Journal of Gerontology and Geriatrics (JGG) (ISSN: 2499-6564) [1] is the official journal of the Italian Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics (Società Italiana di Gerontologia e Geriatria, SIGG) and will be published by MDPI from January 2026.
The Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Dr. Gianluigi Vendemiale, will continue to lead the journal in this role. The transition represents a continued publication of Volume 74 as a quarterly, peer-reviewed, open-access and online-only journal. We are excited to build on the journal’s legacy and to serve its community with renewed publishing needs and goals.
MDPI and SIGG join forces in publishing the journal to high editorial and ethical standards, with an increased international presence, academic engagement, and therefore impact. The journal will implement Article Processing Charges for the first time and ensure numerous discounts and waivers both during the transfer process and continuously afterwards.
I would like to offer a warm welcome to all journal editors, SIGG members, authors, reviewers, and readers. We hope that the Journal of Gerontology and Geriatrics will continue to serve as a platform for sharing advances in the field of aging.
