Reviewer 2 Report

Dear authors, it was a pleasure to read your manuscript. Congratulations with such extensive piece of work!

The only comment that I have is that this manuscript is best defined not as an original article but as a scoping (or mapping) review as it clearly presents an overview of a large yet diverse body of literature on the topic.

So, please consider changing the type of manuscript in the system.

Author Response

Dear reviewer 2

Many thanks for your read and comments. In regard to your suggestion to the type of manuscript I will refer this to the editors of the journal. Having said this, there was a long research process of epidemiological history, colonial medical history which I then had to put in dialogue with the body of literature on the HIV-2 topic.

Still many thanks for your words of appreciation for the piece we propose for publication.

Best regards,
