Round 1

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsDear Editor,
The manuscript (processes-3627296) entitled ‘Biological Potential of Proteins from Kappaphycus alvarezii Proteins: Identification by Mass Spectrometry and Biotechnological Potential Against Candida parapsilosis and C. krusei’’ can be published in the processes-3627296 after minor revision.
My suggestions:
- In line 117, 2', 7' of dichlorofluorescein diacetate, Please write as 2',7'-dichlorofluorescein diacetate
- In line 144, H2O2 should be corrected as H2O2 (2 subscript).
- In line 169, one should be One (capital letter O)
- What is abbreviation of ROS? First write the long name and then write ROS in parentheses.
- Compare a little deeper with similar studies in the literature.

ROS is reactive oxygen species. We have fixed the problem thank you
Compare a little deeper with similar studies in the literature.
Authors’ Response
Dear reviewer, we have tried to do that. However, there not much studies focusing on protein from algal source.

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThe manuscript provides a comprehensive and well-structured investigation into the antifungal properties of K. alvarezii proteins. The study is scientifically rigorous, with clear objectives, well-executed methods, and conclusions supported by robust data. The references are relevant and enhance the credibility of the research context. Some additional clarifications could be beneficial for broader accessibility, but overall, the manuscript is a valuable contribution to the field of antifungal research.
While the study explores some mechanisms of action, further investigation into the exact molecular interactions and pathways involved in the antifungal activity could provide deeper insights. In reviewing the content and structure of the manuscript, I would have a question that could be explored further:
How does the specific composition and structure of the proteins extracted from Kappaphycus alvarezii contribute to their antifungal efficacy, particularly in disrupting the cell membranes of Candida species?

Dear Reviewer #2
The composition of different classes of proteins in the extract produced in our study could help in multiple mechanisms of action against Candida cells. For example, chitinases and β-1,3-glucanases act together to destroy the cell wall. On the other hand, protease inhibitors could attack the membrane, inducing the pore formation process. Proteases found in our samples could also attack proteins in the cell wall and membrane, helping destabilize the membrane and leading to cell death.
