Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

R2, one of the evaluation parameters, should also be used. Using RMSE and MAE may not be enough.

Although there are different optimization algorithms, it should be clearly stated why it is compared with the genetic algorithm.

Taylor diagrams can be used.

In the Conclusions section, more striking results can be given instead of repeated sentences. Maybe combined with the discussion section.

Do you really need a display like Tables 2 and 3?

It's worth checking out Figure 11.

It would be helpful to include a photo of the dam.

Unit deficiencies in the figures should be eliminated.

1)    Use a more complete and better topic

2)    Keywords are not all-inclusive.

3)    Line 53-54 Check the sentence! What exactly does the sentence mean?

4)    Line 77 Check the sentence!

5)    Explain the vertical and horizontal axes in Figures 2 and 3.

6)    Line 94-97. Results in introduction!!!

7)    Line 188 write equation 4.

8)    The English writing of the manuscript is very weak. It should be modified by a native.

9)    Line 194. There is no map indicating the dam's location.

10) Line 208. Please specify which equation in the text?

11) The lack of this information and data can be observed in this article (instrumentation data, settlement and terrestrial surveying network).  The structural condition of the dam body should be determined.  Why did you select this dam? Is there any indication of dam displacement?  explain in further detail.

12) Line 213. A sentence with two monitoring data.

13) Line 223. You mentioned vertical displacement, but there was no result.

14) Table 1. displays horizontal displacement, whereas the equation represents vertical displacement, and there is no result concerning vertical displacement in the manuscript.

15) In table 2 & 3, Column 2 (measured displacement) is determined in what way?

16) Line 235. Where are the dam's sampling points?

17) You should have used the observed data to validate the horizontal displacement.

18) Line 358-364Has only one person done this research?

19) Line 357. Discussion is weak. It should be rewritten and the findings of your research should be compared to the results of others' work.

Round 2

Reviewer 1 Report

Congrats

Author Response

Thank you again for giving us so many valuable comments, which are indeed helpful for improving our submitted manuscript. Your comments are also of great significance to deepen our future researches.

Reviewer 2 Report

1) It is normal for the dam to move horizontally as the water rises and lowers behind the reservoir with the change of season. How can you prove that there was a problem with this dam? Why did you not mention this at the end of the introduction? Why this dam?

2) There is a lack of information about the dam's stability in your case study. Plz improve this section. As I mentioned before. You should persuade the reader with documented reasons. The reader is not convinced by the lack of data availability.

3) Discussion and introduction are still weak and not acceptable. Plz improve them.

1) In some parts of the manuscript are written formulas and otherwhere equations. Plz revise them.

2) Line 228- 252 . No reference

4) Table 1: The last data is from 29.05.1990!

5) The quality of Fig 6 is rather weak.

Round 3

Reviewer 2 Report

For Figure 6. You may take an idea and improve it if you research some articles' case studies.
