Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The research “Preparation of Mulberry-like MnO specimen and its Lithium property” is fairly completed in terms of researching work. A mulberry-like MnO is used as the anode active material in the lithium ion batteries. The MnO anode shows a reversible capacity of 702 mAhg-1. I recommend publishing this paper in Processes after answering few questions.

(1) The letters in most figures are too small to read. Again, most plots in the figures, for example, in Figure 2 and Figure 2f, stack together, which is very hard to tell one from another. Figures resolution needs to be improved.

(2) I think that reporting gravimetric capacities per gram of actives is conventional practice and authors use it, but I suggest to report the gravimetric and areal capacities based on electrode together for a better understanding.

(3) The amount of active material on the electrode is suggested to be reported. What is the mass loading of MnO? Moreover, the amount of electrolyte is suggested to be reported.

(4) A suitable name is suggested for the MnO anode. The mulberry shape seems to contribute nothing in the performance improvement. Moreover, the SEM and TEM images show no mulberry shape of the MnO sample.

(5) A reference electrode is suggested. Morphology and composition charges before and after cycling are suggested.

Reviewer 2 Report

Authors have prepared mulberry-like MnO and applied it as an anode for lithium-ion. After checking the quality of the manuscript, I think that the manuscript can be considered for publication in Processes. However, in the final manuscript, I hope that the authors can insert one table that compares their work with similar reports in the literature.
