Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This is a comprehensive and thorough review on aspects of sex and gender differences in the context of iron chelation.  This reviewer has minor suggestions only:

- whereas there is no obvious misinformation detectable to this reviewer, the review is somewhat hard to read.  Structuring overlong sections in smaller portions would be helpful for the reader.

- along with this: a Figure with aspects of iron metabolism and eventual aspects of where sex/gender are known, would be to be considered.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The manuscript submitted by Allegra et al to Biomedicines focuses the overview on the differences in iron chelation regarding to sex and gender. The text of the manuscript is written well. However, the manuscript has several flaws which should be revised before the acceptance for publication.

1.  In introduction, the other similar reviews should also be cited.

2. The manuscript has no illustration at all. It should be provided with several representative figures to make it more attractive for the readers.

3. The authors should revise the conclusions to answer the key question on the difference on iron chelation in the connection with sex and gender.
