Yoga and Mindfulness-Based Rehabilitation After Myocardial Infarction: A Systematic Review
Highlights
- The available studies about yoga and mindfulness in patients with myocardial infarction show consistent improvements in psychological well-being, including reduced stress, anxiety, and depressive symptoms, together with better quality of life.
- Some evidence also suggests benefits for physical recovery, such as improved exercise tolerance and favorable changes in body weight and heart-related risk factors.
- These interventions were found to be safe, well accepted by patients, and easy to implement in different healthcare settings.
- The findings suggest that yoga and mindfulness may meaningfully complement standard rehabilitation. When used alongside conventional medical care, they may help promote a more holistic and patient-centered recovery after a heart attack.
