Knowledge of Complementary Medicine and Therapies Among Family Physicians and the General Population in Saudi Arabia
Highlights
- Family physicians exhibited significantly greater knowledge of CMT compared to the general population. However, both groups demonstrated limited awareness of regulatory and quality-control measures.
- Healthcare professionals served as the primary source of CMT information for both physicians and the public. Significant differences were observed between these groups in terms of knowledge levels and information sources (p < 0.001).
- Public education and awareness initiatives are necessary to enhance general knowledge and promote the safe use of CMTs, particularly with respect to evidence-based practices and regulatory standards.
- Enhancing physician training in CMT regulation, safety, and quality assurance could improve the reliability of information provided to the public and facilitate safer integration of CMTs into healthcare practice.
