Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This study evaluates the impact of an intervention on PBL in rural Colombia to focus on student competencies in mathematics, language, science, and 21st-century skills.

There are some issues related to the submission:

- Research questions are missing. What are the research questions?

- The intervention steps should be explained in detail. How did the teacher apply PBL? Where do activities come from?

- For evaluation of students' 21st century skills: How did you do scoring? Did you establish reliability? Are tests and instruments valid?

- On page 22, the authors discuss about type of test. Pre- and post-tests are not type of the tests. Are pre- and post-tests the same? You should emphasize the intervention and post-test.

- Implications should involve activities and suggestions to enhance creativity

- How is this research design different from quasi-experimental method since it has non-random assignment?

- There are reliability issues on the paper. How can you solve this problem?

Comment 1: "I believe, your paper can be published in the present form. However, I would recommend you to add an outlook for future research and limitations of your study. "

Response 1: Thank you for your positive feedback and recommendation. In response, we would like to note that the original manuscript does include sections addressing both the limitations of the study and suggestions for future research. However, based on your suggestion, we will review these sections to ensure they are comprehensive and consider adding further details where needed to clarify the study's boundaries and possible directions for future research. We appreciate your guidance in strengthening these aspects of the paper.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

1- Can you provide the timeline for the implementation of the intervention?

2- Can you explain Theory of Change within the text or Figure 3?

3- How did you evaluate during the baseline assessment?

4-You can give the 20-item test as an appendix

5- Can you present your results based on the research questions? Giving science and mathematics together makes it difficult, you can provide science results as a whole.

6-Discussion can be written more reflective referring to previous research.
