Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The paper reviews transducers for energy harvesting and their models. The paper would be helpful to those interested in the topics. An important part of a review paper is accurate quotation of references, and the paper should improve substantially in the aspect. Here are detailed comments.

·       The title should specify that it is a review paper, and a suggested modification is “Energy harvesting technologies and equivalent electronic structural models – review”

·       All the conference and journal papers in the reference are published before 2015. It should update the references to include recent ones.

·       Table 1 & Table 2: provide references for individual items. (A good example is Table 11.)

·       Equation (3): Explain ff (fill factor) briefly.

·       Figure 4: I à IL

·       Line 136: include the following recent reference.

S. Priya, H.-C. Song, Y. Zhou, R. Varghese, A. Chopra, S.-G. Kim, I. Kanno, L. Wu, D.S Ha, J. Ryu, R.G. Polcawich, “A Review on Piezoelectric Energy Harvesting: Materials, Methods, and Circuits,” Energy Harvesting and Systems, Vol. 4, No. 1, pp. 3 – 39, March 2017.

·       Equations (4) – (7): provide the meanings of the symbols used.

·       Table 4: provide a reference.

·       Equation (8): show only for the case of N turns.

·       Tables 5, 6, 8 and 9: provide a reference.

·       Line 291: also include disadvantages.

·       Table 12: values are not aligned along the rows. Add board lines for different groups of turbines.

·       Figure 25: give a reference.

Reviewer 2 Report

Article presents a review of the energy harvesting technologies and provides structural electrical models. The analysis shown in the paper presents a guideline for proper selection of energy harvesting technologies to be used as a source for the self-powered systems. As it is clearly presented in order to use the harvested energy, the systems must be adopted to the energy and voltage waveform of the specific energy harvesting technology. The paper is interesting, concise and clearly written.

Other few comments and suggestions.

Abstract, line 11, ‘As the worldwide awareness about the global climate change spreads, green electronics are becoming increasingly popular for they are…’, should be changed to as they are

On page 2, line 44, ‘It must be born in mind…’, should be changed to It must be considered… also on Page 8

On Page 5, Figure 4. correct the text in figure from current source I to IL

On Page 7, line 150, ‘... generate energy when bending…‘, should be changed to by bending

On page 7, Equations (4)-(7), representation of variables used is missing

On page 9, , line 207, ‘Where, R is the losses…‘, should be changes to Where R represents the losses…

On Page 10, line 237, ‘Where Dem is the electromagnetic damping, RL is de load, Rc the coil…’, de      should be replaced by the

On Page 13, line311, ‘However, it is not possible perform a direct conversion…’, insert to perform
