GreenRP: Task-Aware Discharge-Resilient Routing for Sustainable Edge AI in Satellite Optical Networks
Round 1

Comments and Suggestions for Authors1. Although the novel battery aging model's introduction is encouraging, the argument for its contribution would be strengthened if it included a brief explanation of how it differs from previous models.
2. Although conceptually rich, the introduction is a little dense. To make complex sentences (like lines 30–40) easier for a wider audience to read, think about simplifying or breaking them up.
3. One advantage is the ability to distinguish between energy consumption and task criticality. The manuscript could, however, do a better job of illustrating how this trade-off is dynamically managed in real-time settings.
4. Though technically valid, the explanation of snapshot-based transitions and terminal states would be strengthened by a straightforward example or visual aid.
5. While simulation realism is admirable, it would be helpful to include a brief justification for the selection of particular orbital altitudes and inclinations.
6. Though the reasoning behind setting the weight coefficients (X, Y, and Z) to 1 might be clarified or tested for sensitivity, the parameter detail is comprehensive.
7. Although the tool's use is obvious, it would be beneficial to note any validation or benchmarking of the simulation model against actual data or scenarios.
8. The conclusion does a good job of summarizing the main contributions and findings, but it would be strengthened with a quick discussion of prospective future improvements or practical deployment issues.

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsGeneral comments
The article proposes a task-aware routing planning (GreenRP) that achieves sustainable edge-AI through dynamic task offloading and discharge-resilient path. GreenRP employs a novel battery aging model explicitly coupling depth-of-discharge effects with the dynamics of laser inter-satellite linking by means of AI with the aim of enhancing the system’s sustainability.
The content of the article is within the scope of the Journal.
The main contribution of the article is the proposed routing planning method. Some specific novelties are the development of a comprehensive energy-efficient routing model that integrates satellite energy dynamics with operational strategies to optimize network longevity and performance and the design of the Green task-aware Routing Planning (GreenRP) algorithm which is validated through extensive simulations to optimize network performance and energy utilization.
The article provides a sufficient literature review, mainly included in the “Introduction” section. Sections 2 and 3 provide the mathematical background for the proposed model while section 4 presents the simulation results.
The proposed algorithm’s superiority is mainly demonstrated in figures 5 to 8a.
Conclusions are in accordance with the presented results, however the relevant section 5 should be extended (see “specific comments” below).
Specific comments
The SP (shortest path) abbreviation should appear in line 302 instead of line 410.
Though of minor importance, please use capital letters SP in all equations (21).
Optional: In figure 4, the SP algorithm seems to outperform the proposed GreenRP one. Though the SP algorithm’s advantage gradually decreases, the SP algorithm remains slightly superior. Though this is indeed mentioned in lines 431-433, it would be interesting if the simulation could be extended to 5500 or 6000 concurrent services.
Please change the title of subsection 4.3.
Conclusions should be extended and make reference to figs 4a/4b and particularly figs 5 to 8a.
Review decision
The article proposes a novel algorithm for which it provides the mathematical background and a sufficient set of data regarding comparison with other algorithms. Given that, I consider the article publishable subject to the revisions mentioned above.
Comments on the Quality of English LanguageThe article is well written so regarding the use of English, a minor editing would be sufficient.
