Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Line # 2: ‘species’ not ‘specie’

Line # 78: ‘three different forage genetic resources’ – try to change this sentence. In fact, it is a rather very small sample, even if there are little more than 30 cultivars of forage species in Brazil. Therefore I would not use the term 'genetic resources'.

Line # 193: in English, please

Line # 23: ‘This cultivar is known for its fast growth’ Is this the only reason - the speed of growth? Need more arguments ….

Line 288 – 290: One species, one cultivar, one place ... Is that what you were looking for? But what about mixtures of species/cultivars? This can be applied in other regions of the World. Giving such strong recommendations to one cultivar negates biodiversity etc. and may provoke very bad situations in case of disease or other devastating factors that one cultivar is not enough strong to cope with.

Therefore I can not recommend your article for further processing.

 Very good, dear Editor

The work made available is very important for livestock and agricultural development to achieve the sustainability of the productive systems, since the profitability of the technology that is adopted is very important to achieve better economic rates and care for the environment and the livestock ecosystem, but it is necessary to make some remarks to achieve a better understanding of the investigation

In the Introduction, it should be deepened to achieve a greater link between the importance of livestock systems where crop rotation is carried out and its combination with improved grasses and its impact on the economics of the systems, since it is very brief.

On materials and methodsOn line 74, the Köppen quote on the classification of climate must be placed

It does not make it clear how the grasses were planted in the soybean areas, what was the planting frame used, the densities, it does not describe how the grazing animals were managed, such as stocking rate, if they were rotated, or divided, by paddocks, or what type of grazing.

Dear authors,

The manuscript should be improved according to the following observations:

The literature review is not sufficiently well done to show that there is a gap. The introduction presents the research problem and the main concepts, but unfortunately the literature study is not consistent.

Also, at the end of the introduction, the authors present the purpose of the research, but not the hypotheses from which they started.

The methodology is clearly described and the analyses are consistent. The authors should mention the software used for the statistical analyses performed.

The conclusions are superficially presented. The authors fail to highlight the results of the study, i.e. to show the usefulness of the study for the agricultural sector, its limitations, as well as the research perspectives.
