Round  1

Reviewer 1 Report

The paper is clear and concise and the objective and methods are well explained.

It could be improved implementing the same legend in all figures in order to have the same colour and symbol in all figures each connection type.

It is interesting to explain in more detail the effect of the connection type in the velocity fluctuation, lines 157/158.

In the same way, the horizontal pull force effect of the hinged point have to be explained, why is produced? which effect is caused in the hinged point? etc.

Reviewer 2 Report

This manuscript presents the effect of connection between surface vessel and surbmerged object using simulation tool.  The manuscript is well written and the results and discussion are clear.  One drawback of this study is that only simulation work have been carried out, moreover there are no new scientific foundings in the simulation.  Really, it is questionable whether the only simulation work using a commmercial code is included within the scope of research.  However, this work may be informative for readers in view of providing the initial data for wave glider design. Therefore, I will recommend this work for publication.
