Remarks

I am very honored to have been selected by your journal to review the article and provide my comments, which may help the authors improve the document.

The article titled:

"Real-time Lightweight Morphological Detection for Chinese 2 Mitten Crab Origin Tracing"

The difficulty of tracing geographical origin leads to uncertainty about quality and disruptions in the market. This document proposes to address this challenge, this study proposes a two-stage origin tracing framework, integrating a lightweight object detector and a high-accuracy classifier.

While the article is well-written and relevant for the journal, it raises several important and pertinent remarks that require clarification from the authors to improve the manuscript.

General Format

  • The authors have written the article well.

Abstract

  • Avoid using abbreviations. Use a notation table after the abstract for future reference.

In the Section : Background

  • How to distinguish between different types of Chinese crabs?
  • Identify the shortcomings of traditional techniques.
  • Outline the specific strengths of your technique with thorough How did the authors derive Equation (14)?

Materials and Methods

  • Explain the process within your algorithm that allows for the identification of different crab species
  • What techniques are effective for capturing images of a crab species in its natural environment?
  • describe the influence of light on crabs in their natural environment
  • give a description of the convolution operation and give its meaning
  • describe equation 1 and give the meaning of the symbol *
  • what represents the  in equation1
  • present a description of Figure 3
  • in equation 2 there is a change of sign from + to  . give a precision
  • give examples of K functions
  • give a percentage increase in crab production under your technique

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

- Add a clear and concise conclusion to the abstract. Revise the hyphens between words.
Line 191: 'Computational overhead' is repeated.
- In the initial part of the methodology, it is suggested that a general methodological diagram be created to include the methods/algorithms used and better visualise the proposal. Then, each of the blocks should be explained.
- How were the hyperparameters chosen? The experimentation carried out to select them must be explained clearly and in detail.
- Why were the transformations shown in Section 3.1.2 used? Does the size of the images affect anything? Some images are mentioned as being 1500 x 1500, while others are mentioned as being 3872 x 2592. Further on, however, it is stated that the images are 640 x 640. Please explain this discrepancy, as it is confusing.
- On lines 494–496, you state that 'our model is slightly lower than AlexNet in terms of accuracy, recall, precision, and F1 score, but higher than VGG16'. These results need to be presented.
- What are the limitations of your proposal? Based on this, what future work is proposed?
- Although authors compared your methods with those of other proposed algorithms, it would be interesting to compare your results with those of other authors discussed in the introduction. A comparison in terms of both performance and complexity is suggested.
- In the conclusion section, it is recommended that authors provide numerical conclusions.

Remarks

I am very honored to have been selected by your journal to review the second time the article and provide my comments, which may help the authors improve the document.

The article titled:

"Real-time Lightweight Morphological Detection for Chinese 2 Mitten Crab Origin Tracing"

  1. The authors have removed all abbreviations from the abstract, but should draw a notation table for future use.
  2. set the number of Chinese crab type
  3. How to identify each of them
  4. in equation 1 give a description of all variables and the role of each
  5. give the definition of the convolution product and its mathematical expression
  6. Write a description of Figure 4 and 5
  7. In equation 2, explain the role of the two variables K1 and K2.
  8. Give their mathematical expressions
  9. How do the authors manage to take pictures of crabs in their natural environment without any accidents?
  10. in equation 3, give an example of the function P(R) and demonstrate that it is integrable in the Reiman sense
  11.
