Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript entitled "PFAS: a Review of the state of the art, from legislation to analytical approaches and toxicological aspects for assessing contamination in food and environment and related risks"was a great effort. The authors expressed and summarized these aspects but still needed much medication for better insight.

* Abstract. The author has to be concise in a way for better insight into the problem along with objectives and output.

*How does the author compare the novelty and comparison statement from the previously published review paper?and also explin in your objectives.

*There are some typos and grammatical errors that need to be addressed properly. Present the consistency. Authors are strongly suggested to seek professional help and strongly recommend to use of scientific language.

*Pay attention to the format such as units and digits spacing. There should be consistency. The whole manuscript lacks format consistency.

* Need to modify the keyword, its long and don’t impart good impression.

*There was lack of personal opinion on every section.

*How about the practical application and benefit to which community?

*Does the author takes copyrights of resunig figures?

*There is no need to highlight the name of country.

*There must be a schematic diagram for a clear and better understanding for the reader.

*There is need to brifelly explin the analytical techniques with the advancement and advantages and atlast explin the present analytical tools.

pay attention to english, grammer and formating

- Legislation section, multiple paragraphs were created to introduce each country's legislation; they should be integrated in each paragraph for each country to make it easier to follow.

- It should include a table with the permissible concentrations of each PFAS in food or other products in each country. Similar, a table of it contamination in enviromental and food (with difference kind of source or food, which PFSA detected, how many, etc) should be provided.

- The sections "Toxicity/Toxicological Effects" and "Contamination" should appear before the section "Analytical Technique."

- The authors should give their conclusion or scientific understanding for each issue at the end of each section.

- A figure summarizing the analytical technique strategy should be supplied.
