Reviewer 1 Report

Congratulations for the work. A lot of effort has been done for this work.

Following I made some suggestions:

line 111-112 replace "For the sake of studying' with "For the relevance of the study"

line117 , add China, after Hainan Provence.

line 175 replace "For the sake of studying' with "For the relevance of the study"

line 183 replace "During the test, the test car" with "During the study, the test car..."

line 223 text should be on the next page

line 319  In Table 4, I suggest to indicate references for the data presented

line 348  bold the "h" letter

line 362  replace" carpet, type"  with "carpet, and type"

Line 380, In figure 8, The first and the second instruments have the same color?

Differential Distribution Analysis & Region and Grade Regulation on Auto-parts weathering External Factors with Non-uniform Thermal Environment

This is an interesting manuscript on weathering with non-uniform thermal environment. The authors present an useful literature review, followed by experimental work and its numerical modeling, where parameters are corrected in real time until the dynamic simulation results are consistent with the experimental data.

This paper is likely to attract the interest of automotive engineers, both as regards the data presented as well as from the point of view of the methodology.

The manuscript is well organized, and the tables and figures are adequate. The list of references is comprehensive and up-to-date.

Nevertheless, the paper should not be published before a revision of the English language writing is made.

I offer next a few suggestions and remarks seeking to contribute to the improvement of the presentation of the manuscript.

Line 2 – title – it is suggested that the title should be improved. Perhaps simply: ‘Auto-parts weathering under Non-uniform Thermal Environment’

Line 11, in Abstract – the sentence ‘In view of the fact that it is difficult to comprehensively master and precisely regulate the external factors distribution of automobile weathering in non-uniform thermal environment as well as the consequent disequilibrium weathering problem, while exploring weather-resistant  materials in uniform thermal environment.’   does not seems to be complete! When you say ‘In view of the fact that …. ’, the reader expects that you proceed with ‘In view of the fact that …., the authors propose this or that !

I suggest you omit   In view of the fact that, a  nd re-write this sentence simply as:

‘It is difficult to comprehensively master and precisely regulate the external factors distribution of automobile weathering in non-uniform thermal environment as well as the consequent disequilibrium weathering problem, while exploring weather-resistant  materials in uniform thermal environment.’

Line 18 in abstract: where it is ‘… The influences and laws of automotive physical parameters on the external factors distribution are analyzed in detail, ….’, I suggest ‘… The laws of automotive physical parameters and influences on the external factors distribution are analyzed in detail, ….’

Line 30 (of 1. Introduction) – where it is ‘…become one of important fields …’ should be ‘…become one important field …’ or ‘ ...become one of several important fields …’

Line 77 – there is the occasional situation of rain and a convertible sports automobile, but that is perhaps a particular case outside the general scope of the manuscript!

Line 111 – where it is ‘… The thermal environment inside and outside automotive is very complicated. …’, should be ‘… The thermal environment inside and outside an automobile is very complicated. …

Line 131 – where it is ‘… of the car, including 1 front bumper, 2 radiator…’, I suggest for improved clarity:  ‘… of the car, including (numbers refer to Fig. 1) 1 front bumper, 2 radiator…’

Line 251 – instead of ….delegates…. I suggest …represents…

Line 252 – instead of ….deputize…. I suggest …represent…

Line 274 – please leave a space separating    j[41] – it should be j [41]

Line 275 – where you write …angel    do you mean angle ?

Line 295 – it is … represent…, not … delegate…..

Line 302 - it is … represents…, not … deputizes…..

Line 318 – I suggest that the market segment of car represented be mentioned

Line 319, Table 4 – please write kg, not Kg (the International System of Units requires that kg is never written Kg )

Line 355 – where it is ‘…than ten thousands of parts in automobile…’ should be ‘…than ten thousands of parts in one automobile….

Line 425 – individually (please correct typo)

Line 449  and line 461 - …..severally – do you mean respectively ?

Line 462 - separately – do you mean respectively ?

Line 479 – please improve the English writing

Lines 483 and 484 – improvement of the English writing is required for clarity !

Line 511 – …. proposed the idea….

Line 556 – reference [16] – please correct – authors should be written: family name, given name.   It is therefore  Badji, C., not Célia, B.; it is Beigbeder, J., not Joana, B., etc.

Finally, I suggest that the authors include a list of acronyms.

Reviewer 3 Report

The presented paper touches difficult but well-know problem of weathering of automobile parts. This problem is affected by several factors and unknowns and due to its complexity is difficult to model. The assessment of weathering is performed for the parked car, which has not changed its position and spatial orientation during the test. So the results of the study and conclusion are limited only to this particular situation, which can be far different from the usual terms of exploitation. There is no clear suggestion which situation is more destructive. Certain conclusions seem to be trivial even for the not skilled and deeply involved researcher. I mean the division into three groups of elements exposed to weathering. However, it should be stressed, that this division was justified by the measurement.

Additionally, what is more it is worth noting that the experiment lasted one year.

The remedy proposed in the 4. conclusion for parts belonging to group I - combination of weathering-resistant materials for the top part of dashboard and reduction of the front window permeability seems to obvious even for the layman and these results can be considered as the introductory ones, and I can't see any optimization in this area.

What is missing for me, is the lack of comments concerning the comparison of the experiment condition and the usual exploitation condition and if the proposed model could be used in such a case.
