Calculation Model, Influencing Factors, and Dynamic Characteristics of Strip Temperature in a Radiant Tube Furnace during Continuous Annealing Process
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The paper is round and well-structured. The procedures are explained in a detailed way that could easily be followed.
Thus there are only some minor points to be improved:
line 13: 'control. The model'
line 37: 'RTF shows a complex'
line 44: 'on an accurate'
line 48: the established methods'
line 66: 'surfaces, which'
line 173: '(15). That is,'
line 233: 'process'
line 242: 'time, it is considered that'
line 243: 'value. After obtaining'
line 266: you sorted out field measurement data. Which rules/considerations were guiding this sorting out?
line 288: the strip thickness is in the range of 0.5 to 2.5 mm, the strip width between 900 and 2000 mm. The calculations in Fig. 6 are done for a thickness of 0.7 to 1.5 mm resp. a width of 1400 to 2000 mm. Why there is this difference in the ranges?

In the paper the author have prepared a model to control and predict the heating behavior in continuous annealing process using the strip temperature control. a calculation model is established by heat balance method and verified using actual experimental data. The results show that strip thickness, line speed and radiant tube temperature have significant influence, while strip width is almost negligible. The process lag is calculated as well. The paper is interesting and well written despite this, for me is difficult to find the novelty brought by this work. The introduction should present a paragraph where the authors clearly state where is the novelty of this study and which lack in literature they are going to fill. The model uses standard Flux equations and consider the radiant heat effect and the Newton law. What differentiate this work from a complicated calculation exercise? Why FEM and 3d models were not used? The paper can be considered for publication after the author clearly addressed these point in the introduction.Author Response
