Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The article is based on two case-studies focused on two forest communities, which is not enough for drawing different strategies, as suggested by the article title. The article seems to be a sort of policy report, packed with some diversified literature. The goal of the study is not clear at all and, without a consistent set of data, the reader hardly grasps which are the problems addressed in the article.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The topic studied in this paper is valuable, and the conclusions drawn are novel and meaningful.

1. The policy of CF in this article is scattered among various research results. I suggest that a separate title be created to clearly state the main points of this policy.

2. The paper lists the existing problems of CF policy in the research results. For example, in line 294-295, "The villagers claimed that the existing CF trees had already affected their banana trees' growth and yield", In line 303 "Both villages suffer from unequal farm size distribution", then, what is the reason behind these problems? The article can make some necessary analysis.

3. In line 323, "The reasons observed and revealed during the FGD are as follows", it would be better if the FGD information could be supplemented here.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Dear Authors,

The study is interesting and addresses important issues of forest and land management. The article has a correct construction and structure. The layout of the work is clear.

The manuscript contains some deficiencies that should be considered by the authors.

- There is no clear research objective or research hypotheses.

-The methodology is not well described. There is a lack of details about the questions asked, a detailed presentation of the survey issues. In addition, for example, what exactly did the observational studies consist of? (line 141) -Why were 24 people from village A and 22 from village B examined (how was the sample size determined?).

-Please specify what the analyses in R consisted of? It s worth performing statistical analyses of the obtained material.

-Please specify the conclusions, they are too laconic and do not reflect the effects of the research.

Round 2

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The article looks much better now. However, some ideas can be better expressed. for instance, the authors are using the simple present tense, meaning that each statement is a well-known truth (I chose the most convenient usage of simple present) except some passive past tense. A simple past-tense will solve the problem.

line 175: An ethical problem - a study cannot be based on a crisis. The most appropriate motivation for such a study is to avoid further crises.

line 190: knowledge production or production of knowledge?

Comments on the Quality of English Language

Revise the verb tenses! Try to rephrase in an more formal style in order to avoid ambiguities.
