Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

  1. A subject to be developed in a good way should pass in consecutive steps, and at the end, it should have a conclusion and recommendation

Author Response

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you very much for your suggestions and recommendations.

The whole manuscript was carefully reviewed.

A particular attention was paid in the description of the Methods, which culminated in the introduction of a figure (Fig. 6) that summarizes our Research Design.

A restructuring of the presentation of the Materials was also made. The reading of the article becomes simpler and more captivating to future readers, we believe.

Results, Discussion, Conclusions and recommendations were also rewritten in order to satisfy your suggestions.

Kind regards,

Nuno

Reviewer 2 Report

This article shows in a comprehensible way the development of a fishing village into a typical tourist resort. The combination of aerial photographs and picture postcards clarifies the development of the settlement structure and can also help to improve the results of an aerial photograph survey in other contexts.
Detailed comments on structure and content are given in the document.

Author Response

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you very much for your useful suggestions and recommendations.

The whole manuscript was very carefully reviewed and several changes on the structure of the article were made.

A particular attention was paid in the description of the Methods, which culminated in the introduction of a figure (Fig. 6) that summarizes the Research Design, as you advised.

A restructuring of the presentation of the Materials was also made. The reading of the article becomes simpler and more captivating to future readers, we believe.

Results, Discussion and Conclusions were also rewritten.

We hope the difference between our research and research from others is better explained in the revised manuscript. We know studies that use almost exclusively orthorectified vertical aerial photography and studies that use almost exclusively picture postcards. A research design that uses the various sources, intentional and simultaneously, seems to us to be rare or nonexistent.

It is by highlighting the importance of merging the various photographic sources that we intend to contribute to future research on human geography and landscape biography. We ourselves are continuing to work on this topic, to consolidate the research design now presented, through other case studies and through a better theoretical foundation.

Kind regards,

Nuno
