Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Dear authors, I had the pleasure of revising the article entitled "Backward trajectory analysis based on specific humidity correction for the influence of moisture source on precipitation isotopes in the western Loess Plateau, China". The work is well structured and well written. The general soundness of the research topic is engaging. I think the manuscript can be published, but I suggest following the comments (many but not major concerns) in the PDF attached, to improve the overall merit of the research. So in conclusion I went for a " minor revision of the work".

Best.

Reviewer 2 Report

I reviewed this paper with interest, and the authors discussed the influence of moisture sources on precipitation isotopes in the western loess Plateau, China with Backward trajectory analysis after specific humidity correction and the PSCF model.  This is a well-written article with a large dataset and interesting conclusions. The English should be polished carefully. The figures are not quite clear (maybe this is due to the version for review, please check).

I have the following specific comments:
1Line 100-106. T6.06℃,13.9Please fix all the decimal points and significant digits.

2Line131-132was……is. There are two verbs.

3Line 203-214, the testing accuracy of ±1‰ for δ2H and ±0.3‰ for δ18O. Then you can only keep one decimal place.

4Line 236-239Previous studies have shown that when P < 5 mm or RH < 90%, the subcloud evaporation of raindrops is stronger, which makes the temperature effect of precipitation δ18O more pronounced, and can weaken the relationship between precipitation δ18O and precipitation amount. References? This sentence is too long, please change it into two or three sentences for a better understanding.

5Line 270: the moisture sources is?

6Line 60-61: is usually not used for moisture source identification. Yes or no?

7the potential evaporation source areas and the specific humidity corrected backward trajectory to analyze the contribution of local recycled vapor to precipitation, which was 32.17% in the summer half-year and 24.66% in the winter half-year.

Is there some comparison to other methods?

8The title: sources?
