Interannual and Spatial Variability of Cyanotoxins in the Prespa Lake Area, Greece
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The authors performed screening of water from two lakes and one intermediate pond in Greece for the presence of cyanobacteria and several cyanotoxins they can produce as well as accumulation of these compounds in fish. The results showed variability in the concentration of algal and cyanobacterial biomass between the examined lakes. The differences between lakes were also observed in the concentration of microcystin as well as in the share of particular microcystin homologues. Microcystins were also detected by the authors in tissues of carp livers.
The manuscript is well structured and written. Each part of the ms is comprehensively written and possess appropriate citations. What I suggest is to add the graph (in the main text or in the supplementary materials) showing the share of cyanobacteria species in particular lakes.
Minor comments:
Abstract, line 25: correct the unit - The ‘-1’ should be superscripted. This should be checked and corrected in the whole ms.
Genus/species names should be italicized: lines 300, 489.

Reviewer 2 Report
The manuscript entitled Interannual and spatial variability of cyanotoxins in the Prespa Lake Area, Greece is based, in principle, on the cyanobacterial blooms evaluation, which is an increasing issue in both the diverse natural water bodies and drinking water or wastewater treatment systems.
This type's data is valuable because it is derived from a real-world application of an actual global climate change by ecological imbalance.
However, the work could benefit from some clarity on the utility of the analysis methodology (LC-MS/MS) presented in this work. It would have been indicated to apply some statistical tests to quantify recorded experimental data, and a more well-developed interpretation of them is necessary.
On that basis, I recommend that the manuscript undergo minor revisions before it is accepted for publication.
