Reviewer 2 Report

1.     Line 109, 111& 114, no reference source available for XPS measurements. Include in revised version to support the assertion that changes in concentration cause FeCl3's oxidation state effect the electrode surface characteristics.

2.     Line 127-138; No XPS fitting peaks are shown Fe 2p3/2 and Fe 2p1/2 in Fig 1. No XPS fitting peaks are displayed between lines 127-138 Fe 2p3/2 and Fe 2p1/2 in Figure 1. Then, how do the authors confirm the peak positions and their relationship to specific oxidation states? In addition, authors cited references (53, 54,56, and 57) include XPS fitting whilst its unavailable in current manuscript. Provide XPS fitted spectra in revised version.

3.     Line 141-144; “The Nyquist plot -------------catalytic activity” There is no need to introduce the EIS because it is so prevalent. Remove these lines from the manuscript.

4.     Line 145. Its Figure a, typo mistake. Same typo error in Line 167. Correct it and check in whole manuscript.

5.     "Line 178 “Error! refence source not found”.  Correct it. Check throughout the manuscript for such discrepancies.

6.     No EIS equivalent circuit provided to ensure the electrode resistance characteristics. Although references are cited in support of EIS data which deem cant justified the change happening for these electrodes. Recommended to include EIS fitting circuit along with improve the EIS discussion citing latest quality papers.

7.     Recommended to improve the figure resolution.

8.     Check for manuscript language and typo errors.

9.     There is no XRD, SEM, or TEM study performed on the carbon-supported bimetallic (Pt-Fe) electrodes to show their crystal structure, surface characteristics, or particle size. All of these analyses are basic and essential for the characterization and optimization of electrodes.
