Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In this work, the author successfully synthesized Ce-doped La1-xCexMnO3 perovskite catalysts are prepared by sol-gel method, and the promotion effect of Ce doping on LaMnO3 catalysts for CO oxidation is investigated. The as-synthesized samples exhibited excellent results in CO oxidation. On the whole, the findings are of considerable interest and well done. I recommend it to be published after a major revision.

1. The novelty needs to refinement and should be highlighted in the introduction part.

2. The authors are responsible for the English, which should be polished throughout the manuscript to clear some minor typo/grammar errors.

3. Maybe the author should compare their results clearly with other reported works, highlighting the advantage and disadvantages of their novel composite.

4. Introduction part, if possible, some important and relative reports about Photocatalysis could helped: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jtice.2021.08.034, https://doi.org/10.1007/s10904-022-02389-8,  https://doi.org/10.1016/j.heliyon.2022.e09652.

5. The conclusion is also not targeted to the important aspects described in the manuscript; please rephrase it.

6. Pore size distribution should be provided to study the effect of pore size on the activity.

7. The author should better improve the beauty and quality of the figures in the manuscript.

Reviewer 2 Report

Wang et al. report on the “Promotion Effect of Ce Doping on Catalytic Performance of LaMnO3 for CO Oxidation.” The content of the work is interesting, but the manuscript cannot be published in the present form due to the following issues:

 1. There is a slight change in the XRD patterns due to the impression of CeO2 phase formation. The author suggests highlighting the area and zooming in with the corresponding extension in the explanation within the manuscript.

 2.       How does the author claim regarding the Ce atoms decreasing the crystallinity of LaMnO3? The author should perform experiments like Raman etc. to know clearly about the CeO2 formation have happened of Ce doping.

3.       Why are the surface area of the samples with X = 0.1 and 0.2 nearly the same? If so then why X = 0.2 sample show better performance?

 4.       BET Pore size for all the samples is mandatory.

 5.       In Figure 4 HRTEM author should present the SAED pattern which can further clarify the formation of LaMnO3 and La0.8Ce0.2MnO2.

 6.       Why is the position of Oα absent in Figure 5 (d)? Why the XPS of O 1s for the sample X =0.1 looks bizarre compared to the others

 7.       XPS depth analysis is mandatory since it confirms the Ce doping in the LaMnO3 matrix.

 8.       A comparative table with the other available reports should be put that suggests the promotional effect of Ce doping in the LaMnO3

 9.       Please precisely mention the outcomes regarding work presented in brief as a state of the art before the conclusion.

Reviewer 2 Report

Some minor correction is required before publication

1. As authors are requested to add Raman which is mandatory both as figure and the length at the discussion part.

2. In the table 1 at the REF coloumn author should write "This work"

3. As mentioned SAED pattern is required not the FFT pattern. Author should be perticular about this.

4. Font size should be increased to visulaize the different elements in Figure 4 (g-j)
