Title: Optimum mixture for improved mechanical characteristics of tropical residual soil using calcined seashell powder and treated coir fiber: A response surface methodology-based approach

Reviewer comments:

This is interesting manuscript, which has been the focus on Optimum mixture for improved mechanical characteristics of tropical residual soil using calcined seashell powder and treated coir fiber: A response surface methodology-based approach. The discussion topic in this article are fascinating and its very professionally written article. Hence, I highly recommended this manuscript to be accepted and publish. In addition, some points below could consider for further improvement.

1.           Tittle:

The title is too long; perhaps the performance should have been highlighted instead of the method.  (i.e., Response surface methodology: The improvement of tropical residual soil mechanical properties utilising calcined seashell powder and treated coir fibre).

2.           Results & discussion:

a)   Lines 265: Please revise Table denotation: Table 1 to Table 6. For easier comprehension and discussion, the author can relocate Table 6 to subsections 3.1.2–3.1.5.

1. The topic is interesting, however, this paper only shows the experimental results. The reviewer recommends the authors to improve the paper according to the following comments.

More recent papers on the current works are available. A quick search of recent papers yielded quite a number of relevant papers that would be useful to readers and that would offer a better perspective of the place of this new paper. A list is attached. Some of those references may already been included in your bibliography, but overall the current bibliography is not up to date.

Reviewer 3 Report

The manuscript proposes an A response surface methodology-based approach for determining the Optimum mixture of tropical residual soil using calcined seashell powder and treated coir fiber. The investigation is very interesting. I recommend publishing this investigation. However, the authors should be complete a section about the methodology approach which can help the reader to understand easily the methodology of this investigation
