Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In this paper, a mathematical model is used to measure and determine the possible known routing of various signals in an electricity network based on attenuation and estimate the relationship between sensor signals and known fault patterns. A laboratory WSN based induction motors testbed setup was developed using Xbee devices and microcontroller along with the variety of different-sized motors to verify the progression of faulty signals and identify the type of fault. These motors were connected in parallel to the main power line through this architecture, which provided an excellent concept for an industrial multi-motor network modelling lab setup. A method for the extraction of Xbee node-level features has been developed, and it can be applied to a variety of datasets. The accuracy of the real-time data capture is demonstrated to be very close data analyses between simulation and testbed measurements.

The paper idea is valid and adds knowledge to the literature. The paper is related to the journal scope. Overall, the paper can be accepted after a major corrections.

The limitation of the paper lies in paper structures and its presentation as it has to be improved.

 ·       The first section (Introduction) is too long. It should be divided into 2 sections (1. Introduction) and (2. Related Works).

·       The related works are missing and a new recently published paper has to be cited, e.g:

·       The paper includes some good cases. However, the authors fail to support their idea why they use these cases. So, You have to explain them in the text.

·       The paper has to be proofread.

1) It is desirable to add more literature review related to the topic.

2) Consider checking the Fig. 5, Table 1., Fig. 9, please try to make it more readable.

3) The authors can think about application of cloud services for the future work. Because it can help with data transfer for monitoring quantities, decision making and data processing.

Dear Author

Actually, I have read your manuscript, I am interested and was happy when I read it. It is a good article but needs some revising to improve it. My comments are as follows:

1- The abstract needs to be rewritten. It should include the objective of the research and the problem statement research.

2- In the introduction, figures 1 & 2 need to reference. As well as needing to mention the objective need the problem statement research.

3-On page 4, " In(15)" is not properly. It should start with the names.

4- On page 5, figure (5), why did not "M4" connect directly to the main power line?

5- lines 160 & 161, I think there is a missing figure number. And, the figure should be after mentioning its number. The numbers of figures are not sequenced.

6- same line 217 .... figure (9) and on raw 395..... figure (16). And so on figuers (17) & (18).

7- in line 362 in figure (12) I see software and hardware, not just software

Hope you respond and submit the revision.

Thank you.

 Regards
