Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript “Techno-economic evaluation of Hydrogen production via gasification of vacuum residue Integrated with Dry Methane Reforming” is well written. There are following modifications:

  1. The introduction section can be summarized with important literature.
  2. Section 2. Mention the software version (Aspen Plus) used in this study.
  3. Can author explain which operating parameter has more effect on the hydrogen production.
  4. Process limitations should be discussed.

Reviewer 2 Report

In this work, the authors discussed two different processes of producing hydrogen, the comparisons in terms of CO2 emissions, energy efficiency, energy consumption, and environmental and economic impacts between the two processes are then made.

Some comments and suggestions are given as below.

  1. The English needs to be significantly improved throughout the whole manuscript.
  2. The author indicated “The rise in the demand of the hydrogen is best illustrated in Figure 3.” It should be Figure 2.
  3. In Section 2 Simulation methodology, “Process Simulations” appears in both steps 2 and 3?
  4. The author indicated “One of the commonly employed indicators to gauge the performance of any process based on the first law of thermody-namics is energy efficiency as defined by Eq. (10).” It should be Eq. (3).
  5. The parameter “i” in Eq. (5) should be defined.
  6. A highlight should be added to highlight the novelty of this paper.
