Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Interesting idea of your article.
My recommendations are the following:
I recommend deleting fig. 1 because it represents the data mentioned in table 1 and only on the SE-PE component.
I recommend that the discussion section be mentioned separately from the conclusions.

Reviewer 2 Report

Thank you for the oportunity to review this manuscript.

Recommnedations:

Although the authors have made considerable efforts to develop this paper, however, I believe that the current version of manuscript should be improved through significant revision and re-writing. I want to provide some suggestions for the improvement of this paper as follows.

Introduction

Please highlight the novelty of your study

Statistical analysis.

I recommend adding the Cronbach alpha and use the Varimax Rotation for the questionnaire.

Strengths and Limitations of the Study

  • Although the authors have attempted to explain the contributions and implications of the paper, I think that the overall quality of the explanations is low. Please provide more elaborated explanations to demonstrate its theoretical and practical contributions.

Discussions

I recommend adding the practical implications of your study and correlate them with the previous researche, too.

Conclusions

I recommend adding more specific conclusions according with your main findings of empirical study.

Abstract

The abstract is clear and makes the reader understand the objectives and findings of the study

Introduction

Although the introduction is well explained and puts the reader in context, it has some weaknesses such as the little up-to-date citations or the lack of studies within the Italian context. It is recommended to do an exhaustive search of the bibliography to attend articles of no more than 5 years ago. In addition, to analyze more deeply the Italian context which was seriously affected by the pandemic.

Method

The method has a good design; however, it would have been interesting to also know the opinion of the students or even that of the families to seek more objectivity in the answers.

The instruments are well selected and adapted to the variables to be analyzed. Reliability and validity data are reported. However, the way to collect information on digital skills could have been completed with one of the many questionnaires created for this purpose.

Results

The results, although statistically very well exposed, I still need to have analyzed other relevant variables such as the results obtained in the students in kinesthetic competence, parental satisfaction, etc.

Discussion and Conclusions

The discussion as in the introduction is missing more up-to-date references and references to the Italian context. The conclusions are clear

General comments

Although the article is detailed and clear, it has been lacking in depth, analyzing other relevant variables.

On the other hand, I am left wondering how did you know that the pandemic was going to happen to record the data before and during. It is strange that the objective as explicit as the one you expose was established before the pandemic, it is a bit of a prediction.
