Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Align the aim of the study with the research questions (interactions or connections and interactions?):

-the aim: "This study sought to investigate patterns of interactions between learners and their instructor in a teacher education course called ‘Computer Science for Teachers’. This course was constructed to leverage aspects of open world game design elements" [11-13].

-the research questions: "What patterns of connections and interactions emerge between students and their instructor in a graduate teacher education course designed using elements of open world game design?" [78-80].

There is a wealth of research in the world that presents models of student-teacher interaction. Please highlight the novelty of your research in this regard.

In the discussion part are poorly emphasized the importance and relevance, similarities and differences with the researches of other authors.

It is suggested to explain the contribution of the research to the analyzed field of science.

It is not presented how the obtained results fit with the knowledge of the analyzed area, what is their role and place.

The study is well presented and consistent.

FORMAL ISSUES.-

- There are some misprints. The text should be reviewed to detect and correct them.

- The quality of some figures needs to be improved.

Dear Authors,

First of all, I would like to congratulate you on your titled work: The Development of Autonomous Student Learning Networks: Patterns of Interactions in an "Open World" Learning Environment for Teachers Exploring Teaching with and 4 through Computer Science

In general, I consider that you present an adequate, well-founded working structure and that you meet the objectives of your research. However, a number of improvements should be considered.

My main concern is the study sample. It is really poor. Why is this?

Abstract

There is a need to improve the reporting of the statistical analyses used.
Some more concrete information is needed.

Introduction

Please pay attention to the alignment of the text. It is not justified.
I think the introduction should be restructured. The objectives of the study should perhaps go at the end of the introduction.

Method
We are dealing with a very small sample. I think it is important to justify this fact.

Figure 1 provides low-quality information, is very poorly presented, is not clearly visible, and does not meet the criteria for a scientific article.

Discussion

The discussion is well structured, answering the questions of your paper. However, the comparison and discussion with previous work are really poor. I think you should make an effort to improve this section.
A section on the limitations of the study should be expanded.

I hope my comments will help you to improve your research.

Best regards
