Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The topic of the research is interesting, manuscript is well written and results are clearly reported. Authors focused their attention on Zanthoxylum bungeanum, an economically important specie and provide comprehensive genomic data that represent a good resource for several purposes (medicinal use, breeding programs, cultivation, i.e.). Only moderate english changes are required.

Author Response

Reviewer 2 Report

The authors analyzed transcripts in Zanthoxylum bungeanum at a genome-wide level. The approach is straightforward, but I would say that the information is useful for readers and thus the ms is suitable for publication in this journal. Following points should be considered:

Fig. 2b: Tops of bars are missing from "6-8" to "12-14" kb. This should be corrected.

L201-205: All species names should be in italics.

L311-338: This seems to be one of the interesting points in this ms, but I could not find the details of the 30 transcripts. Their information should be listed up as a Supplementary table.

Other minor mistakes are indicated in the ms attached.
